USF 2014 applicants?

U.S.A. Florida

Published

Just wondering if there are any USF applicants out there? I had a couple questions :)

Hey nursinggirl93! I think if you cant make the june 25th you can just sign up for the next one, but you wont be able to register for classes at the nursing orientation

Thanks for getting back to me! Why does that sound like a bad/scary thing? I hope this won't cause any future dilemmas...

I have been looking at this posting for a few months now. I was denied for the 2nd degree seeking program also. My GPA is low, 3.34. I have experience CNA and 600 hours of hospital volunteer experience. I still feel confident in my ability to become a nurse one day. However, I wish I could redo my college career and work harder on school and less on a job. I am interested in other programs, but I have always dreamed about going to USF. I would love some tips from people about how I could improve my GPA. I already have a bachelor's degree. I have considered applying to ASN programs. I am currently looking into 11 programs from Gainesville, Orlando, Tampa and in-between. All are accredited, not just approved.

What is everyone's GPA's? Overall and Pre-Reqs?

I'm sorry to hear that. It is sad to hear that someone with a passion for nursing as strong as yours won't be joining the program. :( I would not take the blow too seriously; I have it understood that the admissions committee had to make some serious cuts. They could not accept as many students as in previous years; consequently, seats were very limited.

I might be wrong, but I think there is more emphasis on the personal essay than meets the eye. Before submitting my essay, I had a few of my science professors look at my essay and give me their honest feedback. I found it extremely helpful. I do not know if you have considered taking this approach, but having a fresh set of eyes can change everything!

I hope you will consider reapplying or looking into other programs because you seem like someone who is more than passionate about nursing. Best of luck! You can do it!

I currently live in Tampa, so won't have to move.

I was thinking of starting a Facebook group for the Fall cohort. I know the summer group has one that they use to communicate amongst themselves. Anyone interested?

Sean, I think there are 4 teams of 12 listed on Oasis for the Fall semester for 2nd degree sequence clinicals. I am not sure what all the clinical sites are, but I think Morton Plant is one of them. Also, I believe it changes with the semester. I know they use Florida Hospital Tampa, TGH, the VA, and Sarasota Memorial. I believe St. Joe's and Lakeland Regional are on the list, and I think MPM and Bayfront.

Hey guys!! I applied for upper division also-I was denied summer at USF but I still haven't received my decision for fall! I'm praying so hard haha but question..

Did any of y'all get your status changed to "pending"?? What does that mean? Last time when I was denied it never said that but idk what to think of it.

Thanks!!

Sounds like you are an alternate if someone doesn't accept their seat.

amc15,

I applied to the 2nd degree sequence and my application also says pending. I received an e-mail informing me that I'm on the alternate list. So, we need to wait to see if any available seats open up.

A FB group for communication sounds like a good idea.

I just made a Facebook group. It is a closed group, and is called USF BSN August 2014. If y'all know anyone else who got in, feel free to invite them.

Couldn't find it for some reason. Is there a link?
