Hey everybody,
My name is Laura I just recently got accepted to the FSU Accelerated Nursing Program; however, I am applying to the USF Accelerated Nursing Program for Fall 2014. I am just looking at my options since USF is a little closer to my family in South FL and (most importantly) I heard the program is great!
I want to know if anybody is applying for the USF Accelerated Nursing program for Fall 2014. I am currently finishing up my application essay. Any advice from USF nursing students in the USF accelerated program?
I am looking forward to hearing from all of you!
Laura
I would assume? LoL the email said. . .
Thank you for your application to the Fall 2014 Upper Division program. We have reviewed your application and have determined that your pre-requisite courses are met and that your GPA meets the minimum to be considered. Therefore, we have changed your application status and have moved your name to the eligible applicant list (notated as "committee" in SOAR).
The final list will be reviewed and applicants will be chosen after the May 30th deadline, so you can expect a final acceptance or denial decision to be posted in SOAR and sent by email 3-4 weeks after the deadline (late June).
Important: Please remember: If you took classes outside USF, it is your responsibility to send (and verify that they were received and processed) transcripts showing those grades to undergraduate admissions so they can be calculated into the GPA no later than the deadline. Thank you.
Please note regarding clinicals: We cannot provide guarantees on any one specific clinical location. Transportation for clinical experience is the responsibility of the student, and may be as much as two hours from the USF Tampa Campus. All of our clinical partners provide excellent opportunities to our students.
Additionally, if admitted all undergraduate students must attend the mandatory College of Nursing Orientation & Pre-Immersion Orientation. Both orientations are important to the success of all nursing students. Only extenuating circumstances will be discussed with students should a situation arise. Please be aware of these dates for Fall 2014 admits: Friday July 11, 2014 (Nursing Student Orientation) and Friday August 15, 2014 (Pre-Immersion Orientation).
Hello everyone! I also applied for USF's ABSN program for Fall '14! I have applied before and was not accepted so I'm not too confident about getting in, but I guess we'll see! I'm also applying to UCF/UCF Daytona BSN and Remington College's ABSN program. Does anyone know about how many people normally get accepted into USF's program? Good luck to everyone!
Hi sha2014,
For the most part, I like the program. The professors really want you to succeed, it's not one of those programs that want to weed people out. But they're big on professionalism: we had a woman fail clinicals for being late 3 times, delaying her graduation for a year because that clinical wasn't offered again until 2 semesters later. My main complaint is how highly inflexible they are. They don't care a bit where you live. I have to drive 40 miles to clinical, one way. They have a clinical site 1 mile from my house, but refuse to switch me to that group. One of my placements was one hour and 40 minutes away, one way. It was horrid to drive there. One hour and 40 minutes vs. one mile... thanks a lot, USF! Ah, the things we suffer through for a BSN.
Yes, it's very hard if you're second-degree. I imagine for traditional students, they have more time to study. I'm second-degree, so I can only get loans, but it's only about $3200-$4800 a semester, depending on course load. We had a 22-credit load in the fall, which was murder, but I heard they're re-arranging the program so you all will have it different.
They usually accept 120.
