USF Accelerated Nursing Fall 2014

Hey everybody,

My name is Laura I just recently got accepted to the FSU Accelerated Nursing Program; however, I am applying to the USF Accelerated Nursing Program for Fall 2014. I am just looking at my options since USF is a little closer to my family in South FL and (most importantly) I heard the program is great!

I want to know if anybody is applying for the USF Accelerated Nursing program for Fall 2014. I am currently finishing up my application essay. Any advice from USF nursing students in the USF accelerated program?

I am looking forward to hearing from all of you!

Laura

Hi,

I applied to the USF Accelerated program for Fall 2014 too! A little nervous. Did you already write your writing sample?

Yes I did, I finally finished my essay today. I'm so happy I'm done with the essay. I am a little nervous to hear back from USF!

yes!! did you write two pages? I only wrote one page but now I'm thinking I probably should of wrote more.

Did ya submit your application yet? I wonder if they look over it when you submit it or after the deadline. I would assume how overwhelming it would be to read all personal statement within a two weeks timeframe from when the deadline is and decision are made.

I submitted it a couple of days ago. They review applications after the application deadline and will post decisions about 3 weeks after the May 30th deadline. That is what the admission adviser told me. But I do not think I can edit the application I already looked. Oh well I will just hope for the best.

I submitted my essay last week. Checked the status on SOAR, but it is still listed as "applied". If any of you would like me to critique your personal statement or take a look at mine, please let me know as I would be happy to share.

Those dreadful words "personal statement." How I'm so over about hearing or thinking about it. . It was getting so stressful I.had to just submit my application early because it was keeping me up at night. . My draft at first was four pages after weeks of sleepless nights I was able to condense it to two pages with not even room for another letter or punctuation mark!!

wow 4 pages!! yeah i kept writing it for like 2 weeks and I had my friend and my sister read it and they said it was fine. But who knows! Well lets not stress over it..(yeah right lol).

I would have loved for you to have read it before I submitted it, but now it really would worry me more since I cannot do anything about it.

I was in the same boat as you! It was very difficult to cut it down to 2 pages! I had to cut things out that I wish I had an opportunity to include. In the end, I had it right down to three or four sentences that I needed to cut out and re-word. I cannot tell you how many days I spent staring at my computer trying to trim the original 4 page statement down. I even posted it for critique on this forum, however no one seemed to respond or offer any thoughts about it.

Good luck with your application.

Wouldn't want to worry you! I know how you feel, once it is submitted it is too late to go back and make changes.

I know exactly how you felt. . Starring at the computer for hours and only rewording one sentence! I figured I was being obsessive . . If it was meant to be whatever I had submitted will allow them to visualize who I am as a person and if they wanted me there or not. . . maybe one of the vision they will see is that I am not such a strong writer lol! All I know is I tried extremely hard and gave it my all to paint an image of who I am and my passion. .therefore if I dont get accepted I would be bummed but . . At least I know I tried my best and perhaps that person I portrayed in my writing is not what they are looking for. . .
