Hey everybody,
My name is Laura I just recently got accepted to the FSU Accelerated Nursing Program; however, I am applying to the USF Accelerated Nursing Program for Fall 2014. I am just looking at my options since USF is a little closer to my family in South FL and (most importantly) I heard the program is great!
I want to know if anybody is applying for the USF Accelerated Nursing program for Fall 2014. I am currently finishing up my application essay. Any advice from USF nursing students in the USF accelerated program?
I am looking forward to hearing from all of you!
Laura
I was place on the alternate list as well, however I declined it. I decided about 2 weeks ago that I am going to go to the FSU Accelerated Nursing Program no matter what USF's decision was. FSU is giving more scholarship/grant money and the cost of living is cheap!
Good luck to everyone in your program! Thank you for responding to my topic! I greatly appreciate it!
Yes, you would apply to USF as a pre-nursing major (get accepted as a USF student) and once ALL of your pre-reqs are completed you would submit a nursing application through SOAR and the College of Nursing. They will not consider your application until all of your prerequisite coursework is completed.

Not sure about how long the alternate list is. I know that those who were accepted have to confirm their intent to enroll by 6/27 and that they are also required to attend the nursing orientation on 7/15. If they don't their seat is automatically forfeited. So you should be hearing something fairly soon. I have only seen one or two other people on the board say they were an alternate so maybe there are not too many. Good luck!
Anyone attending the USF Transfer Orientation tomorrow? I am attending and it would be cool to touch base with some of you guys that are entering the second degree Accelerated BSN. Let me know!!

I wrote about vounteer experience (not with a hospital) but was not asked for documented hours. It does not have to be hospital or even healthcare related. Just relate it back to how it will contribute to your ability to be a nurse, and to the nursing profession as a whole. Make your experiences relevant.
