USF Accelerated Nursing Fall 2014

Published

Hey everybody,

My name is Laura I just recently got accepted to the FSU Accelerated Nursing Program; however, I am applying to the USF Accelerated Nursing Program for Fall 2014. I am just looking at my options since USF is a little closer to my family in South FL and (most importantly) I heard the program is great!

I want to know if anybody is applying for the USF Accelerated Nursing program for Fall 2014. I am currently finishing up my application essay. Any advice from USF nursing students in the USF accelerated program?

I am looking forward to hearing from all of you!

Laura

Congrats!! I had a hunch! It's weird how that worked out. Are you 2nd degree or upper division?

Upper division.

Yeah, I got an email a little after 5pm.

Does anyone have an exact figure for the cost of tuition for the entire program? Online they refer you to the tuition and fees page, but it's not super straightforward and I want to make sure I'm doing the math correctly.

Tuition is $211.19 per credit hour. I'm not sure how many credit hours there will be in the first semester. And I think if you go over a certain amount of attempted credit hours you can potentially be charged double. Though I am not 100% sure about how that works.

Ok, hmm. So 68 credit hours total, according to the curriculum, meaning roughly 14,000. Plus extra fees for going over on credit hours.

That was my rough estimate too when I worked out an estimate last year. So yeah, sounds about right. Time to start researching scholarships!

I have to pay out of pocket for the program! Unfortunately Chiropractic College has put me at $185K in student loan debt! I would happily welcome the $14K tuition.

Hello all I also got accepted to the upper division sequence and decided to finally pop in since i have been following/stalking this thread for a while now :)

Welcome and congratulations :)

Hello! Congratulations on those who are accepted, and good luck on those who are still waiting! I might apply for the next summer program. Did they need for us to have volunteer hours? I have kids and my husband travels so volunteering at the hospitals would hurt our family life.... Still do you think I should go for it? Again, good luck to everyone! Thank you:)

They do not specifically require volunteer hours per se, however they ask you to include volunteer experiences as part of your personal statement. It is one of the three topics you are asked to write about.

They don't specify what type of volunteer experience so it does not necessarily mean that you need to do hospital work. They want you to tie in your work, healthcare, volunteer, and life experience and write about how it will make you a better leader in the profession.

Perhaps you volunteer at health events, schools, red cross, athletic events, hospitals, clinics, nursing homes, etc... There are many opportunities outside of just hospitals that may not put too much of a strain on your family life.

Thank you!! I would love to volunteer at hospitals, but if volunteering at our kids' schools count, I do enough to talk about:) I may start something new in fall when kids' school starts. Thank you again!
