Hello all,
I am taking Chem 101 online this summer from South Bend campus. Does anyone know where to get a used book?
Thanks,
Jill:bowingpur:up:
BY now you all are finished with this class. I want to take this class with this same guy. i was wondering how this class went???????
would you recommend taking it over summer or is it too hard? I need to take it but I dont know if i can fit it in next semester, might have to do it summer. is it too hard over summer?
I haven't taken chem in 20 years.
I took the summer 8 week course and managed it fine.
The bad part ( if you call it that), you can take the tests over and over until you get the grade you want,( I discovered that around the 6th week) I do not feel that I learned anything from this class as it was the epitomy of easy.
Good side: Its a very easy course with a "certain" teacher. The virtual labs are simple and well explained. Printing out the instructions before hand will make your life much easier also!
I calculated my grade as we progressed though the course and had a C. I figured "not bad for someone being out of school for 25+ years". When I got my final grade from the teacher, it was an A! I loved the A but felt it dishonest to take that grade...........I never did get a response back after emailing him five times and I still show an A.
JMO..............I love to be able to learn from a class. I do not feel I did it with this teacher.
I am taking chem 101 online through SB this semester. I have Wolfe, is that the easy teacher??
Your posts have encouraged me, so hopefully I can pass it!
My ANP lab teacher said the course was high school level, and it was mostly math. I like math, so I decided to take it online.
I am also taking microbiology this semester But that is in person.
I was a little weary about taking Micro and Chem in the same semester. Howeever, I took ANP I & II in the same semester in the fall. It was the accelerated course. It was difficult, but I passed it with a B so I was happy. I am majoring in Respiratory Care, not nursing. My advisor said I shouldn't have a problem getting in to the program with a B in the ANP classes .
Wow, long post! Especially since I am not sure if anyone still uses this thread, lol.

yeahhhh for both of you!!! (the books are about 400 tho )
RespiratoryGirl011...i took ANP 201 instead of micro (same time as I took the online chem), 201 was just an extension of anp102 and quite easy, that was in the summer!!, (were not supposed to say teachers names on here anymore, so Ill just say the lady with the name that starts with T) Judging from what Ive heard and seeing the people in the lounge studying for micro, personally, Id be a little scared! lol Micro is ALL essay tests! (so ive heard) eeeeek
I wish you all well!
That chem is alot of math, I just did the practice tests and had the formulas down and the tests were pretty easy. The hardest thing was figuring out the online "laboratory", but its REALLY cool...just get clarification on the instructions if you don't understand, cuz theyre confusing sometimes.
indyivy....i have the books, they were about $400....ill "rent" them for $100 (b/c a friend is taking it next semester) or sell them for $275 (cuz ima broke starvin student!) lol I didn't mark in them at all, they are like brand new (but i also wouldn't care if you did)....pm me if you (or anyone else wants them)
Or if anyone would like to buy books online, I use half.com to sell and buy textbooks all the time. It is a branch of eBay. The ISBN # for the Chem book is 9780495011972. You can even get almost new chem books on there for about $125. The only thing you would then have to buy from Ivy Tech would be the CD, which is about $56 from the online bookstore.

Thanks! I feel better all ready. I was really nervous signing up for the class, but I'm thinking I'll probably survive. I hope lol.
