Nursing Students Post Graduate

Published

The interview is in a few weeks and I was wondering if anyone could give me a few pointers. I know the current students are probably too busy to respond to this, but any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks =)

Good luck everybody!!! I am currently in school, I remember applying and being so anxious to await news!!!!! Good luck!!

You're currently at USD? If you were at any of the open houses I've probably met you, Lord knows I've been to all of them since 2009!

Hi gigipgigip and suiteums! I'm new to the site but I was just reading over the older posts. I just received my invitation for an interview at USD and was looking for interviewing tips. Did you guys hear yet? Its nice to know there are others out there going through the same application process anxiety! Good luck to both of you!

Hi ajsaun! Congrats on your invite! Yep, all kinds of anxiety going on over here! Good luck to you too!

Hi. I did USD interviews last year. They are very friendly and try their best to not be intimidating. It is nerve - racking to be sure but you will all do fine. Just remember that you would not have gotten an interview if you were not a very strong applicant. Good luck!

Hi Sandman2855. Thanks for the reassurance! Can you share any specifics about the interview process? What actually takes place at the group and individual interviews? Also, since we already have interviews, will the final selections be based on our interview performance or will they still consider the other factors such as GPA, GRE, etc...?

Thanks again for your advice!! :)

I had a group interview the first day and a one-on-one the next day. It was just chance which one was first and which day, in fact I think some people had them both the first day. During the group interview they had a faculty member and a current student who would ask a question. I think there were about 10-15 applicants per group. After the question, everyone would answer the same question. I think it pays to speak up early so that everything has not already been said about the subject. I usually did't have anything good right away so I would listen to 1 or 2 peoples answers and then jump in and maybe build on their answer or offer something else, whatever comes to your head. Dont worry about being nervous because everyone is nervous and they know that. For the one on one interview, my interviewer was really nice. Have some questions reheorificed and ready to ask her. Your application is definitely still considered and it does NOT depend solely on the interview. They were very clear about this. Feedback from the interview will be added to your overall application and selections are made based on the total application. Hope that calms some nerves :)

Congrats to you as well, Ajsauln. Good luck!

I also received the interview email and any tips would be greatly appreciated! Congrats to those who received it also and see you in February!

Yep, I just got my the tentative schedule email too. BTW, let me describe myself so that when we're at the interviews, you can say hi to somebody you "know". I'm Shannon, I'm 5'6", 29 (ouch), black, with a medium build. I'll be the girl with a big smile on my face!

I'm soooo excited, can't wait to see you guys in Feb! :nurse::yeah:

I am very excited about the upcoming interview for USD, although I did not receive the questions we need to be familiar with for the group and individual interviews. Did anyone else who is interviewing for the Fall 2011 cohort receive the questions, if so any tips would be greatly appreciated!

Hey Guys,

I am also interviewing the 10th and 11th, but I did not receive any questions regarding what to prepare for. I do remember from the information session to be prepared to know why you want to be a nurse as this will be something that is discussed for sure. Has anyone heard anything about any of the other topics? Shannon.....I'll look for you so I can also "know" somebody :) lol My name is Jessica, I am 5'6 blonde hair, blue eyes, and 25 (that also hurts so say haha) I'd tell you what I am wearing....but have no idea yet!

Hi everyone!

I just had my interview this past weekend. I'm not sure how I did. On one hand, the answer came naturally for most questions. On the other, I might have been a little too honest. :) And a 15 minute interview seems more nerve-wracking than a longer interview! And I was talking to the other applicants and there were so many bright applicants there that it was almost intimidating. Does anyone know when we should start expecting to hear back from them?

Thanks!
