does anyone plan on applying to the program?

in the original post on this i mentioned:

"hey guys,

i just left the nursing career fair at the convention center in los angeles and met with one of their nurse recruiters.

the next versant program begins october 2012.

applications will be accepted (june 1-14, 2012).

apply through the usc jobs website at www.usc.edu/jobs. look for "new graduate" in the job title.

fyi- the program requirements are:

eligible applicants must have less than one year of acute care hospital experience as a licensed rn. a bsn is strongly preferred. the program requires a 2 year commitment.

good luck! "

Still waiting...wow.

So let's say, hypothetically, we don't hear SOMETHING by Friday. Should one assume they weren't selected for an interview at all?

I called today and found out that they have received 800 applications. The guy told me that they have not even looked at my application yet!!!! I guess they have already picked the people they want and rest will be get the letter.

Thank you for calling! Do you mean pick the people they want to interview or pick the people for the position?
Specializes in ICU.

Well that's rude to have noy even looked at all of the apps and have picked who they wanted.I wonder how many people did they pick? It must noy have been very many because I haven't heard of at least 1 person that landed an interview.

For those of you who have called, what number did you call? Did you speak directly with one of the nurse recruiters or recruitment specialist? I have obtained additional certifications since applying in June and even though I'm sure it won't make me a sexier candidate, I thought I would give them a call and tout my awesome certifications.

I called and spoke with the nurse recruiter on Monday and he told me they were just starting to notify people of interviews. I also asked if we would be notified if we did not get selected and he said we would get an email. I haven't heard of anyone who has landed an interview nor have I heard I people being rejected recently (others who have gotten rejected got that notification earlier in the process). I'm so confused as to what's going on and I am tempted to follow-up after the 17th to see what's going on.

I called yesterday and talked to one of the nurse recruiters and he said they have no updates (!) but that they would be calling people for in person interviews for another TWO WEEKS. Those that don't get an interview will get an email. Two more weeks of this is going to kill me. I just wish they could have followed the schedule they posted on the job description so we weren't all on the edge of our seats for over two months!

I got an offer for a new grad program in Illinois, where I went to school, but I desperately want to move to LA. They want an answer by the end of the week, and I might have to just accept and hope I can get out of it if I get the USC job. Does anyone know anything about the contracts for these programs when they say 1 year contract or 2 year contract? What if you have to break it for something important? Is there a fee or something? Any insight would be awesome!

Specializes in Medical-Surgical, Telemetry, Geriatrics.

Yes there is usually a fee that amonts to $1000s. When I applied to CHLA (Children's Hospital of Los Angeles), their 2-year contract had a $10,000 fee if we broke it. I would make sure of the conditions of your contract before signing anything.

Just read from a FB page that some people received calls or emails from USC.
