USAF 2012 NTP Board

Forum for any and all discussions about the upcoming nurse transition program selection board for the USAF in 2012

I assumed Alaska would be an easy place to be stationed, but now I"m not so sure!

Haha you guys are hilarious...I love it!!!!! I've been dreamin about it too!!! Isn't that funny?!?! Omg we all need a big dose of sanity after this it's so funny what all this waiting is doin to our brains! :). I think my top stateside were Lackland, Travis, Keesler, Eglin and Wright-Patt...in that order. I volunteered for overseas, and my choices were Landstuhl, Hickam, Anderson, Aviano and I can't remember what was fifth. I don't know how my recruiter will do notifications. Last she told me right before the board started she was only submitting like 7 applicants, and 1 or 2 of those was still working on a medical clearance or somethin. My last name is at the end of the stupid alphabet, so if she does it that way I'll prob be on the bottom of the list, but she's actually been really good about texting me if there was anything she needed. I'm thinking that as soon as she knows anything and is allowed to disclose it she will be able to let all her applicants know in less than an hour. I feel bad for those ppl who's recruiter put in like 30-some applicants! :(

Elmendorf :) my kids will be in heaven with the fishing and my husband will be in heaven with the hunting

I put down Lackland, Wright-Pat, Scott, and McDill. I really wish I had put Hill down! I just visited Salt Lake City for the first time, and I am in love with the area! Not that our dream sheet means a whole lot. My husband put down all bases on the east coast when he enlisted, and we ended up in the Pacific Northwest. lol

Lackland as my first :)

I put Air Force Academy, Luke, Lackland, Eglin, Travis, and Nellis! In that order! But during my chief nurse interview she told me to discount going to AFA and Luke right off that bat due to those locations being inpatient care units mostly! I was just like....okay! :)

Reply about the CEs:

I wouldn't worry too much about that. I assume it's since you've been an R.N and they expect that you've kept up with your CEs so that way you wont have trouble renewing your license during training. I put my CEs in (since I've paid out of pocket for all of them). Also, I'm pretty sure there was a question on the Questionnaire about any CE's / extra information you'd like to add. Hope that puts you at ease a little bit. Besides, who knows, maybe that means you're a likely candidate.

I was told most NTP students usually get their first or second pick for their first assignment. Unless I'm mistaken, the NTP and first duty assignment are on the paperwork before we sign. I've heard it's possible to even negotiate your first assignment before signing the papers.

Wow I check the posts for today and I'm so behind! A lot more posts since I last looked. As I see, everyone is dreaming about being in the Air Force as much as I am! Just yesterday one of my co-workers was asking me about the military and why I decided to apply. I told her about my dad being in the AF, my husband being in the AF, the perks, the pride I have for the military and so on. She became angry and said she felt it was unfair that military members get the perks of BAH, BAS, Post 911 GI Bill, etc. while she has to struggle to pay bills and pay for her son's college. I reminded her that joining is a choice to be ready to fight for our country's freedom, with the possibility of dying for her freedom. Even though many have not died, there are also many who have died. As I wanted to say more and continue to debate, I knew it was useless. So I was the big girl and left it at that. But after I went back to working, I felt that I was already in the Air Force and had to bring myself back to reality. But I can definitely say, because of her unappreciative views, I want to be in the AF so much more. And I thought I already wanted to be in pretty bad, but now every minute of my day is thirsting to proudly put on that uniform and give back to our fellow members as a nurse! And of course to smirk in her face that I'm no longer a civilian. Cheers to all of us on here as I hope that we all get in at the same time. Those of us who don't get in this round, will reapply and join the others later. No matter, we will all serve together one day. No one on here better give up, cuz we are all rooting for each other!!

I'm also putting my hopes on the 10th. I posted before that I would just wait for the 24th, but that sure isn't happening. Dang this wait! I wasn't this antsy about hearing if I was accepted to nursing school. Waiting for the results of this tops it all off. Come on time, go faster!!!

Thanks longboarder...I'm starting to settle down a bit now that a couple more days have passed :). Have you found the Facebook group that many of us are on? It's called Air Force Nurse Corps or something like that...many of us on here have also been asking questions on there.

How did your interview go? Did you end up having it after you turned in your application?
