Hello I'd like to start a thread for those who will be attending the 10/18-11/19/10 COT. Perhaps we could get to know each other before going. Sharing advice and thoughts ahead of time would be great.
FutureAFWife who exactly did you call? I have been looking for my orders as well and would love to follow up!Any help or info would be great!
He called AF personnel. The number is the email response we got is 210-565-2773. The recruiter was a little perturbed that he called then, just so you have a heads up.
Get used to that!Paperwork does not improve by getting your packet done. I finished one checklist, just to get a couple more. It is never ending. Just keep smiling and filling out your same forms over and over!
Oh! advise: print and keep a copy of your CBT's that you do at COT (I know you don't know what these are now, but the Computer Based Tests will be a part of your mandatories). The SERE and Information protection are required and take a long time. Get them done. Keep your copy of the certification so you don't have to do it again when you get to your first station.
I'll be sure to pass that along. We are going to get ids and Power of Attorney paperwork done tomorrow. We also plan to purchase most of his uniforms.
Yay for progress!! We got the form faxed to our recruiter yesterday, and she supposedly turned it over to AF personnel. (We will be following up on Friday if we don't hear anything by then.) We also got military ids and added me and our daughter to DEERS. (Got a printout after the fact and we need to update the addresses.) Also got general, TMO, and id Power of Attorney paperwork. Now we are just waiting on orders so we can set up the move. Time to have a yard sale!!
i started a facebook page "air force cot 11-01". I'm excited to hear and learn. This way we can connect with nonnurses as well :)) my computers won't let me respond to posts on this all nurses blog so all my responses are through my phone. Very tedious typing. :).
Hello,i just sent u a request on facebook to join this group bc I also wil be going to cot next month.my name is Rasheta so when u see the request it is me! :)
What are the pushup/situp requirements you gals keep talking about? Also, any dudes out there? I'm a dude nurse with almost a year's ICU/CCU experience. I will hopefully be leaving in March, but it's nice to read what you are all going through to prepare me.
I too also hope to be stationed at Travis.

I believe this page will give you a fairly good idea about the fitness requirements ( The New Air Force Fitness Test, Effective January 1, 2010 ).
I'm a dude, and gonna be at COT in march as well. But I'm not a nurse haha, I just hang out at these forums cuz its a good resource :)
Can anyone tell me where the CBT are? ANd info on accessing. On the FB page a person put on about getting some testing done before call (saves 9 hrs) I tried to access the ADLS site and was told I needed a CAT card to access. ANyone know anything about this??
If anyone would like to join the FB page please look for USAF COT 11-01 and u will find us. Lots of good info and support.
Good luck all!
Joy, It will all come together. It always does. TMO can do a next day pickup or you can have someone else do as there with poa to do it for you. Plan the best you can. Pack and get ready for COT and keep all that stuff completely separate from anything to be moved.
I don't think you can get to the CBT's without a CAC card (cac card is your ID which you will get at COT)
I suddenly just got sent back here to Maxwell for a 6 week class. I'm just across the street from the OTS campus. It feels really weird to be back. Maybe I'll run into some of you folks at the shoppette right here. lol
good luck to you all! I'm excited for you. (I went through COT in May)
Thank you! I am such a planner and this is making me feel a bit tense! I am keeping my fingers crossed that my orders will be in my mailbox tomorrow! For now I have a room with all of my COT stuff ready to pack! I washed and pressed all my uniforms today and tomorrow I plan on getting alterations done to my mess dress and service uniforms. I am missing some uniform items because the Charleston AFB didn't have everything so I will have to get the rest down there....
I feel like time is flying by now! It's exciting!
