Hello I'd like to start a thread for those who will be attending the 10/18-11/19/10 COT. Perhaps we could get to know each other before going. Sharing advice and thoughts ahead of time would be great.
I am on the waiting list to see if I qualify for the student reimbursement. I have heard that everyone that applied for it IS getting it though. I plan to extend my time and get the bonus also. I was told we can do that at COT. So I will get both the student loan repayment AND the sign on bonus for a total of 6 years served.
The facebook page is my first experience creating a page. I'm figuring out as we go, please be patient with me. I haven't figured out how to set notifications that I have requests. Sorry I'll check more often. I received a request for further information about my student loans but was told I will receive them after turning in paperwork from my PDS. So I should receive it 30-60 days after COT. I'm so excited. This will ease such a burden for me.
Don't worry about the page, it is not that active yet, but wait till we get closer to class time it will be busy. WE have 6 people now so that GREAT! I want to see what I can do while in for my masters. I hope its do-able but really don't want to burden my family with the cost. I am aready paying for one kid in college, never mind braces, dance and the travel I expect to visit family while I am waiting for the house to sell. Wish I had a money tree and all the problems would disappear!
I know. I have to rent my condo and I'm not looking forward to thoses expenses. I just finished my MSN/MHA and have that debt. Unfortunately the AF only pays for loans towards a BSN since that's all my position requires. I am just excited to open a new book in my life. I'm trying figure out how to pack all the items I'm bringing to COT and carry it all.
Me too with the packing! Figure I can have my husband send me stuff as soon as i get there but the big stuff I will have to bring the first day. My list keeps getting longer and heavier. I got a iron and ironing board cover, as I do not want to ruin my clothing. I am bringing my own pillow! ihome radio/alarm, laptop, printer,..............so much. I am bringing a 28 inch suitcase, duffle bag, backpack and computer case. I just dread that day with all the yelling....those DI's must lose their voices monthly. Gee I wonder if any of the students have ever had them as patients....would be funny!
The yelling worries me as well. Its all new to me. I'm trying to get mentally prepared. I purchased several military books to help ease me in. I love your thought about the DIs as patients. There's nothing like being in that vulnerable position to change your perspective. I'm buying all the same as you. Did you purchase the light weight duffle ? Wish it had wheels :).
I have not purchased a duffle bag yet. WE have several but they have various ranks and names of them . So I know I will need a new one. Do you like the lightweight one? I have yet to see it, I am use ot the old canvas ones.
The whole concept of the yelling is to break you down and then build you back up the Air Force way...its does work. It can be demeaning but in the end we will be happy with our outcomes. All I care about is getting to Andrews and starting my life there. So if COT is the portal to that so be it. We will also forge lifelong friendships which will be great. My husband is still in touch will several he went to BMT with as well as old shipmates.

Jennifer is the adm and I do not think she gets on much. Will ask her about it. I go on daily, it helps me to track my kids and husband....too funny at times but I do watch waht I write. You can never be TOO careful!
