USA state license question

Is it possible that one can acquire and hold two licenses of two different states in the USA? For instance, I passed my NCLEX-RN exam ( California) and already received my notification of passing the said exam. And I wanted to endorse it to another state to get a license. Is it possible to also get a license in California while having another state license?

Yes, of course. As long as you meet the eligibility. Are you US-educated and a USC?

Well in that case there may be a problem going -> CA. If you do not have a SSN (?) then CA will not release a license to you until you get one. You can't get one until you have a valid work visa. In addition, CA does its own evaluation of your credentials, even if you have NCLEX result. Try reading in the international forum here at the boards.

yah, i understand California Board of Nursing has its own unique and quite grueling approach when in other states you can already get a license immediately without a SSN. Maybe I'll be thinking of endorsing my NCLEX result notification to another state. Currently, I am on the process of looking for a sponsorship.

You do not have a US license as Ca will not issue one without SSN therefore you can not endorse. You have to meet requirements for state for foreign trained nurse and request Ca forward your results. Would suggest a good read on this forum as this has been answered many times

Doesn't matter, each BON has their own requirements and may need CES doing from CGFNS or whatever requirements they want

okay, no problem. I think it depends on each state because some state doesn't require CES. Thank you for that piece of advice. My greatest problem as of now is getting a sponsorship.

Thanks!;)

Yes that is your biggest challenge, finding a petitioner and joining the retrogression queue

Yup, it's really a grueling process though, but I just hope I can get through all of these. I'll try not to quit and see these adversities as opportunities.

positive mental attitude!yea:)

Actually not. The majority of the states are no longer issuing a license without a SSN#. It is just that they do not destroy the file after three years.

You can have as many licenses as you wish, as long as you are willing to pay for them. But you do not hold a CA license since you have not provided a SSN# to them.

You are unable to endorse a license that does not exist. You are going to have to apply using the License by Examination application and then have CA BRN forward your passing results to them. Be aware that you are going to have to meet the requirements for the new state as well and that the majority are now requiring the CES.

Much has been written on this topic, please just do a search.

You are also looking for a petitioner, and not a sponsor. That means that you are trying to get sponsored for a temporary work visa and those are almost impossible to get at this time.
