Hi there.
We are in our 40s, and I worked as an OR RN 14 yrs mostly in cardiac and neuro also other surgeries, in UK as anesthesia RN for few yrs .
I wish to hear from nursers who worked, on both sides of the border (usa/canada) to give your opinion regd the working conditions, benifits , living, schooling for kids and other aspects for a family.
Any suggestions and comments are welcomed.
Thanks a lot for taking the time to advice.
bye for now.PD

and a fyi, i found "on the internet" many references to anaesthesia/anaesthetic nurses in the uk.
please remember to debate the issue not the person.btw apparently buckinghamshire doesn't know they don't have them either. http://www.natn.org.uk/pages/job_for.asp[color=#333399]1) operating department practitioner. 2)anaesthetic nursewycombe hospitalbuckinghamshire1) £15,555 - £23,947. 2)e grade £18,230 - £22,015[color=#009966]15/07/0
or this interview with a theatre nurse:

was also attracted by the many different roles that the theatre nurse can undertake in the operating department. as the anaesthetic nurse, you provide skilled assistance to the anaesthetist. the nurse cares for the patient during induction, maintenance and reversal of anaesthesia.

Hi there Lisa..Hello there....was interesting reading your post - I have been nursing for 8 yrs here in Vancouver, Canada and am going to write the NCLEX within the next few weeks and am off to Florida (Miami - I think...?) there are 2 private and 1 public large hospitals there - don't know where to choose...any suggestions? going for 13 wks to check Florida out - can you tell me some things about the state and nursing? thanks!
I hv no idea about Florida, as I hv been in Missouri for only a year and I did come in as on contract with $ 21 per hr. even though I do hv approx 14 yrs OR experience, I did Aneasthesia Nurse in Liverpool/UK.
You need to take care that your experience is not taken into account, to calculate ur wages rate etc. I am only one yr old in Missouri Hospital,an Asian immigrant.
You can get the shifts that you desire, and your pay rate is directlly dependent on your place that you stay, you also need to check out, where ever ur going, I hope u hv read the earlier comments that respnd to my email, there is plenty of over time, if u want to do...
Can you please, let us know the Nurisng standards and the benifits etc in vancouver, espl with retiring benifts etc, childs education, we hv son 7 yrs old; we are in our 40s...
Bye for now, sorry i could not be of much help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!\
with best of luck, PD
