  1. Hallo!!! Thank you all for the support and the advice, well we should be able to decide soon. We would take asssistance from the RN recruiting staff like Donna etc at RNABC to see where my profile would fit in best, as per Ferguson, North ER RN I would try St Paul's hospital, it seems to hv most of the cardiac surgeries etc. Thanks for all the leads and theweb sites, they were quite informative and interesting too. bye for now keep in touch, thanks once again PD
  2. Hi there!!! Thanks for your nice and supportive advice, even though we hv green card status in USA as on now, we want to settle down in Canada, we are aware that things may not be as pleasant as they are here i.e either monitarily etc..by the way we are in our 40's!!!!! But my DH feels that we need to get our priorities right. espl w.r.t to our son 8 yrs for his education quality and other related factors. We are actually landed immigrants from India via UK; so after 3 yrs and once i get my canadian citizenship, I suppose, I can always work as travel nurse across the border. There is nothing in particular, that we have to go to Toronto. We are only - on the process of gathering info from collegues like you to choose the right place to settle down, When I was working in Liverpool/England as Anesthesia Nurse in OR for 4 yrs @ the Cardio thoracic hospital. Many of British nurses left to Vancouver. This hhospital supposed to be the second best hospital in Europe.... Thannks for your advice, and the tips.. we will leave 'it' to our Lord in prayer & Jesus to support and guide us to the right place. With regds to ur family and with respects to you all. Paddi.
  3. Hi there. We are likely to move to Toronto, from USA by the end of this year, as my contract with the current hospital comes to an end. I am an OR RN with nearly 14 to 15 yrs experience espl in cardiac and neuro surgeries inlud other general surgeries. I hv also passed CNOR exam and working towards to be a RNFA. As u hv worked as RN in Canada., could you pls tell us what are my chances of getting a decent job in Ontario or BC. I am a RN for both the provinces and hv valid licences. As on now we hv plans to move towards Toronto. Here people say that, Vancouver is a better place to live. We have no idea, except that we visited Toronto last year for a week. Any advice or suggestions thanks for taking the time to reply. bye for now. PD
  4. Hi there.. We are moving to Toronto!!! PD
  5. Hi there!! Has anyone know or had experienced to move to Canada ( Toronto ) from USA with furniture by road... can u suggest the best time of the year & the mode of transport, any suggestions are welcomed!!! thanks guys.. bye for now PD
  6. Hi there.. There seem to be quite a bit of confution with Visa Screen etc., I am qualified from India as a BSN with about 12-15 yrs experience as an OR RN. The easiest entry we got as a whole family was UK., it just happened in 4 wks after my vedio-conference interview, ofcourse after I fullfilled my requmts with UKCC board/ London; they would specify what they need and., its all ur running around to fullfill them. I did work in Liverpool, as an OR Anesthesia nurse for 3 yrs, then I was in the process of USA immigration, this was done with no costs involved, the Hospital via the agency that recruited me did all this for free of cost, with reimbursement of travel etc. The condition was a contract for 3 yrs; So here we are in US and working as an OR RN. We still love Liverpool, and miss our friends there.. So I feel that as someone mentioned earlier. we need to be at the right place at the right time; make the right moves and follow up the paper-work,its all there over the NET, one can down-load the same from the official web-sites and not be distracted by the agency web sites. There could be basic costs/fee involved, u hv no choice but to pay-upfront. Anyway its all up to you where u want to settle down orwhat your priorities are!!!!!!!!!!!. If got them in the right perspective, if its USA/Canada/UK ---all u need to do is work out the protocall.. Alll the best, merry x-mas and a happy new year u to all ..... ....espl to all the staff, who keep this site going 24/7/366., its one of the best interactive web-site; worth to be recon with... bye for now, take care with all that disaster all out there..reneber them in your prayers... with regds PD
  7. Hi there. It all depends from which country, category, the point system such as on ur edu, exp, age, skill requirement in Canadian labour forces are the deciding factors. Even the coutry where u file from also matters, some asian countries wait list is 3-5 yrs. One of my collegues an US Citzen, who applied for canadian immigration as RN was rejected, reason not known. Anyway goto the candian official web site and you can check online if you qualify and thendown load the PDF forms, submitt to the nearest embassy. There are quite a few changes since 2002, in the point system your spouse is also taken into account, confused seek the nearest help via lawer or so.. all the best, hope that gives u some overall view, bye for now....PD
  8. Hi there.. Hving read your mail, its realistic to think about your move to Canada. We got our green card to USA and Permanent resd to Canada. We are at the cross roads of going where sort. I am a BSN OR / Cardio thoracic, general surgeries; nurse with CRNO, with 15 yrs of experience we both are in our early 40s and its time we need to decide where to go!!!. We hv a son around 8 yrs. At present I am working as scrubb nurse in Missouri/USA. If we do not enter Canada by 2006 oct, our canadian immgration goes up in flame. Can't hv both We hv to give up one of the status or country. My husband prefers to settle in Canada, on the long run, he thinks like you, He is also not much after money but for quality and other basic benifits one needs. Pls tell us what are the other benifits, that we can get and would it be difficult for me to get an OR job with 15 yrs experience, currently I am working towards RNFA, which should finish by next summer. I do have Ontario / CNO license and also recently got British columbia RNABC approval, need to send the fee to be registered as an RNABC nurse. What are our chances of settling down, my husband also works for hospital, which place is better. Prior to coming to US I worked as an aneasthetist OR RN for 3 yrs in Cardiothoracic centre / Liverpool - UK. Thanks for taking the time to go throu' this mail so far, your input is vvery much appreciated, orelse we are thinking of settling down in Seattle/ Washington, got few offers from there. I am on contract till 2006 june with the current hospital, I do search all the wenb sites such as Medhunters etc. BUT whtais the reality from what you hear and see on Net !!!! Bye for now PD
  9. Hi Eileen. Thanks for taking the time to respnd, I am already an BSN nurse, did my Bachelors in the 90s. pd
  10. .Hi there. Thanks for your comments, I do not know if u have read our mail earlier in this thread. Thanks for taking the time to advicin/replying to my query. paddi.
  11. Hey guys...I am surprised that there are no jobs for RNs, I am with 14 -15 yrs as,cardio-thoracic OR RN; we have been recently thinking of settling down in Canada, if this is what the situation is??? we better think twice & remain in USA and is it true, what is happening!!!!! we do not be mislead.... Could someone throw some light on this Pls !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thanks ..... bye for now PD.
  12. Dear Fergus51.I am an OR RN, passed CRON on Aug 26, and hope to become RNFA, starting on Sep 10, 04; with 15 yrs as OR Cardio-thoracic nurse . what are the chances of getting good jobs in Canada as an RNFA. bye for now victor
  13. Hi there Lisa..I hv no idea about Florida, as I hv been in Missouri for only a year and I did come in as on contract with $ 21 per hr. even though I do hv approx 14 yrs OR experience, I did Aneasthesia Nurse in Liverpool/UK. You need to take care that your experience is not taken into account, to calculate ur wages rate etc. I am only one yr old in Missouri Hospital,an Asian immigrant. You can get the shifts that you desire, and your pay rate is directlly dependent on your place that you stay, you also need to check out, where ever ur going, I hope u hv read the earlier comments that respnd to my email, there is plenty of over time, if u want to do... Can you please, let us know the Nurisng standards and the benifits etc in vancouver, espl with retiring benifts etc, childs education, we hv son 7 yrs old; we are in our 40s... Bye for now, sorry i could not be of much help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!\ with best of luck, PD
  14. Thanks for that, Jay Jay... I did't mean anything personal!!! BTW Paddi is " She". Happy 4th of July to all , thanks for ur being so supportive & informative, bye for now...PD
  15. Hi there.. I am sorry for the lack of knowledge about Maine., we are still not familiar with our surroundings. What is wrong if one asks where is Maine. Many Americans on the street; other day did not know who was the vice president of USA, when asked on one of the late shows . May be I am one of those dumb ones as far as geography is concerned. I suppose, this has nothing to do, with anyone passing High school or not, espl to compete as an non-American with so many exams to pass and crossing several continents and cultures. Its extremely competitive to come out or single out, to enter USA with CGFNS/ NCLEX/Tofel/TWE/TSE etc and the paper work. It took us approx 4 yrs to get th visa screen clearance throu'. If you know 'where Maine is or not; does not make anyone smarter'. In One of one of those Nickleldome networks "The Quiz Team' did not know 'what was the capital of Canada' !!!!. BUT still they did win the Game!!!!!!! . We do not have so may opportunities that other Non-Americans take it for granted. Anything reasonably good.... does not come ... FREE....at times no basic ameniteis.... Let me say every day is our learning day and you learn 'one thing-at-a-time', when we landed in UK from Asia, my son did not know how to open a 'ketchup sachet' at Mc Donald's, nor we knew about electronic Air-Ticketing; or to operate a vending machine- so does that make him/us illiterates, I suppose it is where you come from and what back-ground. We all need to accept and help each other rather point fingers at each others. bye for now, sorry about asking about Maine!!!!!!!!!!!! Take me for granted, that I am out of this thread or what-so-ever. We will leave everything to our Lord & Jesus to take care of us, we do not hv the experience to judge things, may the Lord's 'Will' be done..... Praise the Lord for all His blessings. Thanks guys, bye for now. PD PS: Mr Brain Admn; I Want you to take me out of this thread and discontinue me as a member, Could you pls remove me from this discussions all together, I would be so grateful, thank you very much for taking the time to sorting out this matter. Paddi.
