USA DNP - anyone applying for fall 2015?

Published

Am starting this thread to see how many of us are applying to the USA DNP program in fall 2015. I will be graduating from Georgetown University in August and plan to proceed to DNP right away. My FNP program is very well organized and am very well prepared to be an FNP. I already have a couple of job offers, and I credit my program for the offers. I would have loved to go to another top tier school for my DNP but the the student loans are humongous and as I mentioned earlier, I feel well prepared for the workforce. USA is almost free for me considering the 10s of thousands that I pay at GU. I still highly recommend the GU program. Back to USA DNP, who is applying? Am sending out my application this week. For anyone looking into it, the deadline for fall 2015 is feb 15th.

Hello All! I am applying to the bsn-dnp program for fall. I'm applying for the ER track. Praying I get accepted! My nursing cas application is finished, it took 2 weeks for them to calculate my gpa! Sending in my supplemental this weekend. Good luck to everyone! Anyone else applying for the ER track?

Laurenernurse....good for you. I want to stay away from the hospital as much as possible. I like the fact that USA has a good number of specialty tracks.

My supplemental was received almost two weeks ago but I the NursingCAS one is taking ages. They finally received one transcript. Two still missing.

Hi Jules A,

I did ask management where I work at & was told no since I will not be a student at the schools that they have a contract with which blows my mind because I can count at least 5 doctors & 3 nurse practitioners that I could have had as preceptors. I live in Austin, TX so have to arrange that on my own through networking. Have to get in first though!

That is lousy. At one of my hospitals we had to establish a contract with the school and at the other nothing just permission from the unit managers where I would be doing hours and I floated to 4 different departments. Is there anyone else you can talk to about this? My hospitals were supportive which is smart because they knew I planned to stay in the system and expanding my scope was positive for the hospitals and our patients.

Nope. No one else to talk to. Looking for potential preceptors in Austin, TX where I live even though whichever school I get into it will take a year before I can start clinicals. Being checking online for psych NP around my area. Too bad, can only find one or two listed. Will continue with that & ask a couple of psychiatrists that I work with if they could recommend me to any of their colleagues & go from there. Will do the same with psych NPs. USA says it has a list of clinical sites that it has contacts with. Will see if that list gets updated down the line too.

I applied for the BSN to DNP PMHNP program starting in the Fall of 2015 the day it opened back in August. It seems we all have the same issues and concerns with clinicals. I have to obtain mine out of state as I reside in NC, and it has something to do with the UNC system and the governors board as to why we cannot do our clinical in NC. It will all work out. If I have go to another state I will. The problem for me is that there is only one other University in the whole state of NC that offers the PMHNP program and that is at UNC Chapel Hill. It limits me tremendously, as I have no desire to do anything else. I WANT the PMHNP DNP. Good luck everyone.

Good luck free73.

I am proud if you all for being motivated and motivating others. Great! We know that the demand for health care is never as great because of the baby boomers and now the Affordable Care Act. I believe they will need nurses as well as other health care workers in all aspects of health care. Most certainly, nurses will be in demand a lot by 2020. I am currently pursuing my doctoral degree in Health Care Administration and Leadership at Capella. I am in dissertation and working on the IRB stuff.:whistling: I am glad that I found a group that will give moral support. I take every thing totally online and loved it.

They have bad weather again up in Massachusetts. I hope the schools where we applied will take that into consideration because NursingCas has had their offices closed a couple of times now.

Did you already enter in all of your course work, and have your transcripts been received? Once I completed that it took them 2 weeks to calculate my gpa

Yes I did Lauren. I don't think I have 2weeks. Deadline is this 15th. Friday technically since 15th is a weekend.

Hello everyone! I also applied to USA's BSN-DNP Fall 2015 - PNP track. I got an email from USA on 2/9 stating that they had received my supplemental app and that my primary app has been verified, so now the long wait for decisions! Good luck to all of you having issues with NursingCAS (I am honestly not impressed with this company). What other schools, if any, did you all apply to? Thanks!
