Nursing Students Post Graduate

Hello all. I just wanted to ask if anyone has entered the BSN/DNP program at USA. If so how is the program any information about the program would be appreciated.

I agree USA is a terrible program and even so it is supposed to be cheap I paid over $ 5000 for two classes and only completed one. The other one I had to drop out because of the grades I got. No learning curve at all. They just throw you in and then you fail so now you have to repeat the class and of course pay for it again!!! I am now at a local University in the ACNP program, will graduate only 6 months after I would have at USA and I am enjoying the classes, getting A and B's and actually get a good education. The difference is incredible. Sometimes it is true, you really do get what you pay for. That's why USA is so cheap. Worst6 mistake I made so far is to waste my time enrolling in their program.

I am in the first class going through the BSN/DNP Advanced Emergency Nursing track Fall 2010. We will start the end of Aug. So I will try to update you along the way. As long as you meet the minimum requirements I think you will be fine. I have heard from other students in the ACNP and FNP tracks that it is tough but doable. Now that those tracks are being combined I am sure some of the info I was given will change. I will private message you with my email address and you can contact me anytime. Also if you have Facebook search USN/DNP and you will pull up a page started by last years ACNP class. Some of your questions maybe answered there. Hope this helps you some.

What are your thoughts of this program since you have been there for a semester and a half? Do you still recommend it? There is a lot of negative comments on the board about University of South Nursing. I wanted to get some feedback from someone actually in the program now.

Thanks.

I just got accepted to the BSN-DNP dual ACNP/FNP program for fall 2011. If you haven’t noticed USA has moved in their ratings from 115 to well over 200 this year by US News and World Reports. I’ve heard so many bad things about their program that I’ve even contacted them. It takes them weeks to reply to my questions so I take this as a clear picture of how their program would be like. I decided to not go there and go to a different school with a BSN-DNP program doing just the ACNP track at this time. Hope everyone else get’s in if they choose. : )

How is school going? I just got into USA fall dual DNP program and still awaiting to hear from UAB masters program. Which if I do get in have to figure out if I'm ready for a DNP right now. Are you full time, part time, working as well? Any feedback would be much appreciated. Thanks

Kenyo left the USA program for another one (don't know which one)

I am in the USA DNP program. It is good but tough. You have to be self motivated to do well and there is no spoonfeeding like with traditional classes. Most of the professors are helpful and fair. The expectations are very high & they expect students to meet the criteria...period no exceptions. There are large FB support groups for USA BSN/DNP & MSN/DNP students which is helpful to figure out some of the assignment requirements. In this grad school setting the faculty expect you to use critical thinking & be able to think through the work & figure it out...as you would in real life application at the Docorate level. I like it & I have learned a tremendenous amount that will serve me well in real life application. As I said you are looking for easy & to be spoon fed this is not the program for you.
