Hi. I am a US-RN and is thinking of trying to migrate to Canada. Can somebody give me advice if its true when they say that if you pass you're an NCLEX passer, you can just apply for a reciprocity in Vancouver? Is this true? Please help me.

"Canada isn't the 51st state. You can't just transfer here.

The NCLEX isn't worth anything up here. As an independent nation we have our own exams.

You need to go through the appropriate channels with the provincial college of RNs. Besides what is a "US-RN"? Which state do you live in? "

This was posted some time ago, by a Canadian nurse, but wow. was all that necessary? curious thing though. Canada..all of it is going to the NCLEX. It is the same NCLEX we take in the USA and it is reciprocal to Canada. Gotta love that!

Not all the provinces have said they will accept the NCLEX. Alberta and Ontario haven't decided yet. Plus you will still have to meet the requirements of the province for licensure.

I believe only BC has published that they will accept the US NCLEX passed within a certain time frame ONLY if all other requirements for licensing are met (including having a license in the country of education)

Yeah I hadn't heard anything definite except BC so far.

As the nurse who posted it, yes it was necessary.

This is your first post. If you had been a member back between 2007-10, you would have understood the context of the post.

So, was your post necessary?

Actually Yes. I have worked with many Canadian Nurses over the years and loved all of them. I am moving to British Columbia in the spring. I have been wanting to do this for quite some time. I feel that it is a very friendly country and as I said have loved all the Canadians I have met. I did see this post along time ago. I check out this site occasionally. I did not remark on it. but honestly was offended. I personally do not believe that Canada is part of the USA. I understand it to be a friendly border country. A lot of the nurses that came to Texas where I lived before did not have to take the NCLEX to work there. many states did not require it. But I was not insulted that a Canadian could just come into my country and become a nurse here. I was tickled with them. I embrace all Nurses from all over. I hope that will hold true in Canada when I arrive. That I too will be embraced as part of the Nursing Professionals in Canada. I had heard along time ago that Canada may go to the NCLEX and I am glad they have and glad that they will accept and recognize mine in BC. if I misunderstood the context of your post then My apologies. I however, did take it as a knock to nurses from America wanting to come to Canada. It is no walk in the park to transfer to Canada. A lot of assessments and waiting time. I am very willing to do it. I think British Columbia will be wonderful and awesome!

Unfortunately we used to see it a lot that people used Canada because the US had retrogression and once here wanted to know how long it would take for them to move across the border. Thought it would be quicker because they was living in Canada.

Although I was one of the nurses affected way back in 2006 I have lived in Canada since 2008 and within 3 months we had cancelled the US and loved the Canadian life and just waiting now until we can apply for citizenship hopefully next year. I have had no problems with being accepted by the locals and include many as good friends. Working was a bit hard to get into at first due to the different way things are run and the shortage we have here with physicians but with good support from my colleagues I made it

I am looking to work in Canada because the love of my life is from Canada. Canada is a beautiful country and I have a lot of friends from there that are awesome. I have always looked at Canada like a friendly border country. I love my Country as well. (not overly thrilled with decisions my government makes) but I love My beautiful country. So, it will be a change for me. I am very friendly and easy to get along with. I have been in Nursing for 20 years and working in the hospital since I was 18. Love it. Love people. Appreciate your post too and very glad that you are having a positive experience as well. I am sure I will be there this spring. Cant wait!

Will hear good news tomorrow from CNO

Tomorrow, 18th September 2014, CNO will make decision on whether USA NCLEX-RN will be consider in Ontario OR not? As per the he below FAQ published on CNO website indicate the USA and Canadian nursing practice is similar.

https://www.crnns.ca/documents/NCLEX...ugust_2013.pdf

Please go through the link which clearly mentioned that USA and Canada Nursing practice is same. Thus, Canadian Nursing Registration body should accept USA NCLEX-RN result.

Ontario has one more exam for nurses to register themselves , that is Jurisprudence exam so that nurse can practice as per Ontario health legislation. Nurses act 1991.

I wish you all the best to all of you who has already passed NCLEX-RN exam for USA and will be considered by Canadian nurses registration boards.

Enjoy!

Today is Sept 22. No infor for CNO decision regarding recognition of NECLEX passers. Any idea?

no

waiting for their update on website
