yes sometimes we get crabby, but thats okay because we are human. we are worth are weight in gold and will be around a long , long time.

thank you all, we need a pat on the back once in awhile.

When I was a "young" nurse, in both meanings of the word, I worked with a couple of other young nurses (RN's, I was an LPN) who weren't particularly nice to an older RN who occasionally worked with us.

She was semi-retired and worked once or twice a week. She still wore her cap, and was lovely to work with. She treated both the lowly patient care folks- LPN's and CNA's- and the patients well. She was always willing to help with a boost up in bed, hand a urinal, or help take care of a patient need besides just hand a pill, and had a very kind bedside manner. Of course, she never finished her work quite as quickly as the younger gals, usually because she wasn't "too busy" to do what was needed.

I still remember how they would snicker and make fun of her behind her back, and basically leave her on her own: "I'm not staying to help her finish up, I'm getting out of here on time!"

Now that more than 20 years have passed, they are fortysomething themselves and, if those gals are still in nursing, the shoe is on the other foot. I wonder how it feels?

(This may be a not-so-nice note on a nice thread, but baglady's comment made me think about this!)

Kizzy, thank you so much for your encouragement and nice comments. I appreciate them so much. Some days are tough but you are all my inspiration. I just have to get through this bridge class to get into third semester. Lord help me!!! I know you must be a great nurse as well!!! Take care.

if it came out after 1983, i'm not gonna listen to it!!

btw--notice how they keep doing re-makes of our music???

i've been in real trouble ever since my d-i-l taught me how to do the i-pod thing - i'm going to spend waaayyy too much on that i-pod store site! songs i haven't thought of in decades.

and my son and i have frequent debates over the "original" vs "remake" issue.
