UPMC jobs

Published

I know that Children's has a hiring freeze right now (and I assume the whole UPMC system).

I am graduating in August and want to move to Pittsburgh. I was told by Children's that I should apply in January/February for jobs there for August (and that their hiring freeze should be lifted in January). Are the other UPMC hospitals like this? Should I be applying to them at the same time and doing my interviews while I am down there?

The 7-9:1 ratio wasn't at CHP. Sorry I misunderstood you. But that is the ratio on the adult tele floor at another UPMC.

Well, I just got a call from a nurse recruiter for a medical floor at Montifiore. It will be either 8,10,or 12 (can't remember the actual wings). Two of my friends just got hired on 10 east and 10 south. I've applied to 10 different units at Presby an so far and I have only received one call. I just applied last weekend though. I'm pretty confident I'll get a job on at least one of the floors.

I found out yesterday that one of the nursing students on my unit will be a GN there in June. So that's 5 GN in all that have been hired on my unit. I've been on 8EW before and it's a smaller unit, 12N is a Transplant Unit, and 12S is step-down. I'm pretty confident you'll get a job there too!

Thanks! I called the nurse recruiter friday to set up the the interwiew date/time but she wasn't available so I guess she'll have to call me back. I think her name was Melissa, she shares an office with Allison.

I can't remember which one I interiewed for my nursing assistant position, but one of them interviewed me and then took me to the floor to meet the DON. One of my co-workers told me her daughter was hired to work on 10. Good luck!

Yes, they share an office and both are AWESOME. They even respond to emails on the weekend :yeah::yeah: Both are fabulously nice ladies and will answer any and all questions you have.

I am glad to see so many people will be on 10 with me! We should all go out for coffee or something!

I talked with the girls in my class who have positions at Montifiore and Tara will be working on 10, Kayla will be working on 12, and I'm interviewing for 11 on Tuesday! I'm really excited! We'll definitely have to get coffee. I'm a coffee junkie (who isn't in NS). I told Allison that I wasn't sure about 11 since it's TCU but she told if I didn't want it after I've seen it that she would find something else for me. Do you know anything about the 11th floor? Is it good to work on? PM me sometime!
