Upenn MSN fall 2014

Nursing Students Post Graduate

Published

Hi all,

I thought to start a thread for upenn applicants. I had an interview for the pediatric CNS and I am waiting for the letter! Who is in the same position?

Lol I've been obsessively reading the BSN/MSN UPENN thread and that's what they talk about. I dunno. Lol. I feel like it releases my anxiety to just vent here. I got my BSN at Dominican university and have been a NICU nurse for 7 years. I applied to the neonatal CNS program at upenn and PLNU in San Diego. Sadly, There aren't really any neonatal cns programs on the west coast...

I graduated from Seton Hall University last year with a BSN and I have been a postpartum nurse for less than a year. I only applied to Penn and Rutgers for FNP so I'm reallyyy praying for Penn!

Anyone hear anything else yet? Emails? Phone calls? Acceptance letters vs wait list? I'm dyin here!!

I've submitted my application but it looks like they haven't attached my transcripts with the app. Question: when they asked for a professional reference who did you guys ask? I feel like professional reference would be the same as a reference from my nursing manager.

I got my references from my assistant manager, our unit's CNS and the nurse educator of my new grad program. I haven't been in school in years so I had to scramble to get an educator to do my recommendation. I feel like managers are good sources for recommendations.

The same thing happened to me! I kept calling and emailing but they said to wait. Finally I called and someone manually put them together. I got my references from a professor, my preceptor and my nurse manager.

Anybody hear anything yet? Interviews? I hope so!

I'm in! Who else starts July 1st?!

I'm a Fall start myself (late August I believe)...FNP!

Woohoo!! Exciting/stressful= my life right now. Moving in 5 weeks and starting in 6. So much paperwork to get done. Not to mention financial aid :(

CONGRATS CeeemmRN!!!

I used my doula instructor as a professional reference. I chose her because she really understands what my goals are. I graduated from LaSalle University in 2012...my 3.35 GPA leaves MUCH to be desired. I'm from West Philadelphia... born and raised (you know the rest of the song lol) and I am active in local public health initiatives, like North Philadelphia Community Doulas, Bridging the Gaps, Philly North Philadelphia Breastfeeding Advisory Committee, etc. My full-time job is a home visitation nurse working with pregnant teens (1yr). I have been a birth doula for the West and North Philly area since Dec 2013 and in the last few months I have been a birth assistant during home births in Philly. My life mission is to support Philadelphia communities as they make decisions to empower themselves. I'm a Certified Breastfeeding Counselor and love doing breastfeeding classes. My biggest accomplishment without a doubt is being a mom to a great 1.5yr old :-)

Did you apply for part or full-time?
