2016 UPenn BSN/MSN Applicants

Published

Hi all,

I couldn't find a thread for the UPenn BSN/MSN 2016 summer applicants, so I decided to start one. I think it will be a great way for us to connect and support each other.

Is anyone else on here currently applying?

Best of luck.

I'm thrilled to find this thread. I just applied to the PMHNP program. I will already have a BSN. I visited back in September and LOVED everything about Penn. Seth, when did they tell you about it only being a few weeks to find out? I thought it would be 4-6 weeks. What are your stats if you don't mind?

Hello BriAllene,

Well I graduate in December with my BSN, so I am applying to the direct entry MSN. Also, I just got accepted into Psych NP school for this summer! I am so excited. I am going part-time so that may explain why I was accepted so early.

Hey degratj,

All I know is I heard back within two weeks. If by stats you mean GPA, I have around a 3.9. Have you interviewed yet? Since the interview was just related more towards my questions about the program, I made sure to try and incorporate their values in anyway that I could in that process. I think that might have helped me get into the school.

The update email sent by admissions mentioned that we could possibly interview for the 2nd degree BSN if we don't get the interview for BSN/MSN. But does anyone know if we do interview for BSN/MSN, could they still place you in 2nd degree BSN?

From what I understand from the info session, you can still be passed to the BSN pool after you have interviewed for BSN/MSN. Are we just supposed to submit the midterm grade report by email?

Thanks for your response! The midterm grade report can be faxed to 215-573-8439 or emailed to [email protected] -Attention: Accelerated Admissions Materials

Hi, did you already receive an email from admissions asking for a midterm report? It seemed from your past post that you were contacted recently. I haven't received any emails. Thanks!

Yes! I received an email on October 22nd with information about Admissions timeline and received an attached midterm grade report filled out by professors. I would assume if you aren't currently taking any pre-reqs, you would just ignore the report.

So, I have a question for everyone that is applying. I know UPenn has a very good nursing program, but it is incredibly expensive. I believe the BSN/MSN program is well over $100,000. How is everyone planning on paying for this school?

Just like everything at this school, the financial aid is brilliant.

Hi everyone! I've also applied to the BSN/MSN program. I know they mentioned that we shouldn't contact them about the status of our checklist (i.e. to ask whether they've received all of our applications materials) until mid-November, but I'm just worried because I sent my transcripts at the end of September and, according to the checklist, they've received only half of them. Is anyone else having this problem?

According to the checklist I have transcripts missing as well. I wouldn't worry about it until November 15. Of course then we will all be in a panic trying to get express mail transcripts if they haven't received them by then. Moral of the story: you are not alone.
