2016 UPenn BSN/MSN Applicants
I said Sigma Theta Tau, but ANA, APA would work too. Also, I mentioned that I went to professional conferences. The interview isn't really relaxed. If you're not a member of anything yet I would mention what you would like to join.

UPenn MSN 2016
How did you find out so quickly? Did you submit on 15 October like the rest of us?
-
2016 UPenn BSN/MSN Applicants
Me too! I will already have a BSN, though. So, I just want straight masters program. Is that true for you?

2016 UPenn BSN/MSN Applicants
It might be different for the MSN only program. I didn't get an email like that. They said that early spring is when decisions are due. I can't wait that long. I think I might look in other threads and see when they found out. I've got to move my entire family cross country so I need lead time, for sure. Will you post when you find out something?
-
2016 UPenn BSN/MSN Applicants
Nope. I'm dying find out. What program are you waiting on?
-

What program did you apply to? Did you hear from them yet today?

Just like everything at this school, the financial aid is brilliant.

UPENN 2016 COHORT
Just curious how long it took for all of your transcripts to be uploaded, etc? I'm anxious because all of mine were sent electronically except 1 and that was sent ten days ago still with no updates. I know they are swamped with other applications (its probably like HR Block at tax time), but I can't wait until my application is ready to review. Gah!

I'm thrilled to find this thread. I just applied to the PMHNP program. I will already have a BSN. I visited back in September and LOVED everything about Penn. Seth, when did they tell you about it only being a few weeks to find out? I thought it would be 4-6 weeks. What are your stats if you don't mind?

My I'm going to medical school
Synaptic, I agree that you should not pursue being an NP, but I don't think being an MD is the way to go, either. Your attitude is horrid. Your grammar is worse. I would hedge my bets that you wouldn't get past the interview stage of a med school application, let alone the MCAT. One could argue that allowing you into an MD/DO program would be diluting the integrity of the medical model. This is what you don't understand: skill level and commitment vary in EVERY profession. Have you ever heard the phrase "C's get degrees"? Would you want to traverse a bridge designed by an engineer with a 2.0 GPA? Well, I guarantee you do every single day. Nurses, MDs, and engineers are scientists first and foremost. Scientists worth their salt don't make sweeping generalizations like you have. I also am concerned that you lack the shrewdness to maintain HIPPA because of your feeling so comfortable spouting your incendiary ideas on such a public forum. Finally, what makes you so sure you could "cut it" in an MD program? Being as anonymous as you are, though, we would never know that you returned to our lowly profession to pay your bills with your tail lodged between your legs. On behalf of all of the future NPs on the forum, I sincerely say "Bye, Felicia!".

Which Path? Want to be a PMHNP.
Mzaur, How are you liking Vandy? How are the online students doing? Is there high attrition? I'd love to know as much as you're willing to share. dg

Saint Luke's College of Health Sciences - Kansas City
You likely know that nursing school in general is a beast. There isn't a lot of time for extraneous activities, and it isn't at all what you think it is. That being said, SLC is an incredible place to be. I can't imagine the teachers or other resources to be any better. They are really unrivaled. The tuition is a steal for the type of education you receive, and the SLC community feels like family right off the bat. Make an appointment with a student to talk about specifics from there. There is only so much you can gather from online posts. We have good resources and a few books to sell as well. Take care and congratulations.
