Hello everyone! This thread is for folks applying to UPenn's Accelerated BSN-MSN program for the 2023 start.

Feel free to introduce yourself, ask questions and offer guidance and support to other candidates. Please be respectful and kind and remember that this is a long, exhausting, expensive, stressful journey for lots of people. Let's do our best to uplift and help each other. Good luck!

Ooh I didn't receive an email about any update yet. Maybe they're rolling it out over the next few days, or by specialty?

I'm hoping it's just by specialty -- I didn't receive any emails today. Congratulations to those who got good news today! ?

Question for the waitlisted. Since I am waitlisted and the deadline for the program is not until February. does this mean it is a soft rejection??

On behalf of the University of Pennsylvania School of Nursing, I would like to thank you for submitting an application to the Accelerated BSN Second Degree Program at the University of Pennsylvania School of Nursing. I regret to inform you that due to limited positions and the competitiveness of the overall applicant pool, all available seats for the 2023 Fall entering class have been filled at this time.

If you are interested in being placed on the waitlist, please submit the...

I was expecting to be rejected with my stats, but I am at least happy that I got on the waitlist! I'm confused if the app is still extended till Feb. Does this mean that there are still looking for quality applicants even though they are full? And congratz everyone that got in! ?

So did everyone get an email that notified them of an update before they found out if they're in or waitlisted? I didn't get an email and my application page still just says "submitted" so I'm wondering if that's what everyone who hasn't heard back is seeing/experiencing. Also worried that if we didn't hear back it's because they send the acceptances and waitlists first ?

I havent heard back anything yet from PENN. No updates on my app acceptance or rejection. I guess Im taking it as a good sign because not many people are posting here yet that they have heard back so Im thinking maybe they are doing it in waves. I applied CNM

Yes, I got an email yesterday that I was accepted for WHNP. Wishing you good news!

My girlfriend recently let me know that part of her PA school curriculum was going over how certain APRNs will require a DNP for licensure starting in 2025. Have any of you heard of this as well? Since UPenn is just an MSN, it might be worthwhile to consider your other acceptances (if DNP) or ask UPenn if/how they are going to restructure their program.

I plan on asking them myself if I receive an acceptance in the next couple of days (I'm guessing they're going out in waves by MSN specialty), but I just wanted to see if this problem was on anyone else's radar.

Hello Everyone,

I am a bit late to the group, but I recently got accepted to the U Penn ABSN-MSN program (Nurse Midwifery/ WHNP specialty). I won't know if I will be able to attend until I receive the financial aid information. In reference to the above comment, I had heard that PRNs will require a DNP for licensure but I didn't know the date. Did anyone apply for the Amy Gutman scholarship?

Hi bno888! Q for you: did your admission decision refer only to Nurse-Midwifery specialty? Or did it refer to both Nurse-Midwifery and WHNP? Curious because I don't recall there being an option for N-M/WHNP in the dropdown in the application. The CNM program is a dual program for all students admitted into it, I believe. Is that consistent with your understanding?

I am also eagerly (nervously) awaiting the financial aid package and I applied for the Amy Gutmann leadership scholarship. The Gutmann scholarship is provided to such a limited set of students, so I'm not wildly optimistic about my chances, but a full scholarship and opportunity to engage in leadership training would certainly be a decisive factor in choosing a program for me!

This wasn't a Q for me but I also got into the CNM track & here is verbatim what they said in the acceptance letter: “(…)would like to congratulate you on your acceptance to the University of Pennsylvania School of Nursing Accelerated BSN/MSN Program in the Nurse-Midwifery specialty beginning in August 2023.”

Same! It just sent a momentary ping of worry because it's super important to me to do the WHNP/Gender-Related NP education and training also. Sent me running to the website to confirm that all CNM students are dual-certified and eligible to take both the CNM and WHNP boards.

Hi,

I just add the WHNP because of the dual program and the opportunity to get the WHNP certification as well! I didn't see a drop down in the application either, but essentially, we would be considered a Certified Midwife and a Womens Health Nurse Practitioner (at least that is what I was led to believe from the website.) after graduating. Sorry for the confusion!
