Greetings future nurses,
I am trying so hard to wait patiently for my school to send a letter, flare, telegram, or even a smoke signal for the Fall 07 admissions. Meanwhile, I am slowly driving family and friends crazy with my constant requests for their opinions on my chances, checking my email/school website several times a day, and even greeting the mail carrier. I have even called the school on several occassions to ask for updates. Each time I cleverly disguise my voice, so they won't know it's me. I've used Southern, Boston, Canadian, British, and a sortta Australian/Irish accents.
Today, I actually made a hateful face at the Letter carrier when she told me I didn't have any mail. She looked totally shocked and offered to lend me a bill. I laughed and informed her all about nursing school as she filled the mailboxes of my subdivision. I am not sure if she even wanted to hear my lamentations, but she couldn't leave without delivering the mail.
I really need reassurance from my fellow pre-nursing students that I am not the only half crazy and slightly neurotic student out there.
I am currently waiting on a decision from Indiana University for either the Indianapolis or Bloomington campuses. (The accelerated program recieved their letters last week.)
My school didn't have a date were you had to reply or submit the $100 for confirmation. But I did go into the school and personally wrote my reply and gave my money so I could get a RECEIPT. But the school is very good with calling people, they even called me last week because they are waiting on a final transcript then called me later that week to say they have received it.
Plus it's only one person at the school who deals with new enrollee's or people applying so its not hard for that person to remember who you are. I guess it depends on your school if the school your applying to is very interactive with you then you shouldn't worry much but if they are not then check up on them!
boy do I know how you feel. I have been harrassing the school and the mail man for awhile now. I applied last sept. and letters went out in May. I have not got one yet. One of my friends got hers Thursday and called to see if I got one yet..... nope still waiting.... She said orientation is this Friday so you know who will be on the phone Monday morning.
I think nursing school is already making me crazy LOL.......

My waiting has come to an end. I got my letter today and I've been accepted. NS here I come! I'm excited and worried all at once. There are quite a few things I need to get taken care of: background check, physical, immunizations, CPR certified, orientation, etc.
It was a total surprise, I did not expect this letter until at least next weekend. But at least the knot in my stomach is gone now. The envelope was deceiving because it looked like a junk mailing that I get all the time, so I didn't think much of it until I saw it was from the school. I'm so excited and happy, but now nervous and hope I can cut it in NS. I know I'll be fine, I'm sure everyone feels this way at first.

Yup, alot of them have those policies. My school sends wait-list letters by regular mail, acceptance letters by certified mail...that way they can prove you received it...THAT is a good policy.
I would still call weekly and ask...after all, if they sent you a letter and you got it late or it got lost in the mail, they would say it was your responsibility for checking and keeping updated.
Remember, they are getting PAID to answer your questions.
