Hello! I didn't see one of these for the coming year. I figured I would start one to get a conversation going about it!
I applied for the UW Madison Nurse Residency Program for the January 2015 start. I'll be a December 2014 graduate with a BSN. Is anyone else applying for this Nurse Residency program or have applied/went through the program in the past? I'm very interested in what you have to say about the interviewing process and the program itself.
I just had the phone interview and turned in my references. Hope to get a face-to-face interview soon. They said those that will be getting a job offer will be notified hopefully by Thanksgiving holiday. Fingers crossed!
One of the five in my class, the one with the interview in ER, said she heard back already. Offered the job. The rest of us four have still not heard one way or the other. Hopefully in the beginning of the week we will all hear something!
She said Sue, the nurse recruiter, calls to inform you about the job offer. Keep an eye out for that 608 area code everyone!

They mentioned in our informational session that they had applicants from 15 states apply/getting interviewed so it does not seem like there is a preference as far as in-state/out-of-state. There were a lot of Wisconsin students there that I met, but that is most likely due to proximity to the institution and hearing about it rather than say someone from California who would have to do some digging. Some of them have had experience in clinical or as CNAs at UW Health, but I have not.
Hopefully that helped answer some of your questions! I think they are more concerned with qualified applicants than anything else. :)
