University of Wisconsin Nurse Residency Program 2015

U.S.A. Wisconsin

Hello! I didn't see one of these for the coming year. I figured I would start one to get a conversation going about it!

I applied for the UW Madison Nurse Residency Program for the January 2015 start. I'll be a December 2014 graduate with a BSN. Is anyone else applying for this Nurse Residency program or have applied/went through the program in the past? I'm very interested in what you have to say about the interviewing process and the program itself.

I just had the phone interview and turned in my references. Hope to get a face-to-face interview soon. They said those that will be getting a job offer will be notified hopefully by Thanksgiving holiday. Fingers crossed!

Kriggs,

Thanks for the update. Hopefully that means I will also find out soon--yes or no. It is good to know.

I am really hoping it comes together, but we will all be great nurses wherever we end up. I hope you get the NICU!

I will let you know when I know something too :)

I know! I hope so, too, for both of us. I just want to know.

I hope you get it also! Good luck!

I am also applying for summer 2015. Does anyone have any tips on the letter you have to write?

I am also applying for the summer 2015 residency. I sent in my application last Monday and am still waiting to hear back about a telephone interview! Has anyone already heard back?

I don't necessarily have pointers for writing the letter. I would say to just be honest about what your short- and long-term goals are in the nursing profession.

A few girls that are in the semester behind me (graduating this upcoming May) applied very early in the process and heard back for a phone interview and references within a few days of turning in their materials. It seems to be a pretty quick process, but if you apply now it might lag a bit since they are still trying to place all residency positions for us December grads.

I set up a phone interview with a recruiter next week. To prepare I plan on practicing my answers to common behavioral questions and preparing for some other general questions about my interests, passions, etc. Any other suggestions are welcome!

Thanks, that's pretty much what I did and apparently it worked out for me, I had a phone interview this past week and now have my in person interview in January. I'm super nervous but plan to prepare a lot over Christmas break.

Do you have any advice for the in person interview? I've been trying to prepare but it's so intimidating.

Anything for fall 2015, I will be moving to WI and would like to start around then.

Did you apply?
