Hello! I didn't see one of these for the coming year. I figured I would start one to get a conversation going about it!

I applied for the UW Madison Nurse Residency Program for the January 2015 start. I'll be a December 2014 graduate with a BSN. Is anyone else applying for this Nurse Residency program or have applied/went through the program in the past? I'm very interested in what you have to say about the interviewing process and the program itself.

I just had the phone interview and turned in my references. Hope to get a face-to-face interview soon. They said those that will be getting a job offer will be notified hopefully by Thanksgiving holiday. Fingers crossed!

She did explain to me the next steps in the process without asking, including the reference link being sent, so I am praying that tomorrow ill get that link. I can tell you that I was thinking about how i felt it went when she was talking about all of that but she did say that we should hear back about progressing to next round by the end/last week of October, have face to face interviews by early/mid November and have job offer by thanksgiving holidays. I *think* that is exactly what she said but please don't quote me on it! lol :sarcastic: I remember thinking oh gosh, everything will move super fast---end of october will be here before we know it! I am right there with you on wishing they would've asked more personalized questions. I knew exactly what to say to every single question. In fact, I felt overprepared (less organic in answering them); I felt that I could've articulated why I'm a good fit for the program just a little better. She did talk about two particular units for me and asked me which one I liked better so I tried to incorporate why I liked them and experiences that I'd had in them (felt like I was a chatterbox lol)

I will definitely keep y'all posted!! I'm super glad that we have this thread otherwise I'd be a nervous wreck! :nailbiting:

I'm glad you remembered the steps better than I did. I really only paid attention to the time we would get offered the job haha! Did you get your reference email?!

What 2 units did you discuss? Hopefully one of your top choices! That would be awesome!

I know exactly what you mean. I like being able to talk to people going through the same nerve-wracking process as I am. Takes the edge off for sure.

I did! I got it that Friday around the afternoon. I was thinking it would come that morning and when it didn't, started to sweat a little lol Sent the references out and waiting now for them to complete. They were both my top choices so I'm happy. I'll PM you the units:)

Yep! I'm very excited about it! It was my top choice! Fingers crossed that I will be joining the NICU team.
