University of Washington SoN Fall 2013

U.S.A. Washington

Anyone applying to the UW SoN for fall 2013? Anyone else FREAKING OUT about it like I am?

hudabelle, agree with everything you said (even the algebra and stats comparison)! I think I would have enjoyed O-chem a bit more if the instructor was better, but as it was, I had a very hard time wrapping my brain around the reactions. What's worse, is our instructor didn't even teach from the textbook, nor assign homework, so it was very difficult to find relevant practice problems. So I would think I had it down, and then on the exams he would throw at us sh!t we'd never seen before. Some people did well, but I had a hard time with it.

Where did all of you do your pre-nursing stuff? Just curious. I did most of them at Bellevue college, and am currently completing a bs in public health from central Washington university.

I have completed all my nursing pre-req stuff at Skagit Valley College. I sometimes wish that I lived in a bigger metropolitan area, so that I could have had some choices regarding where I attended, but I will say that it's been nice to finish up most of my classes online. Spring quarter of this year will be the first time I've been back to campus in a year, to take o-chem.

I've done my pre-reqs in GA, NC, & finished my pre-nursing degree at Pierce college. Do they take that into account?

I have gone to 3 different schools to accomodate my work schedule. I needed all night classes after 5:30. Very hard to find for some things. Got my AAS-DTA at Everett CC, then when I decided to go to RN school I did the rest of my prereqs at Shorline and Edmonds as well as a couple in Everett. Luckily I live, pretty much, equal distance from all 3.

I've done my pre-reqs at South Seattle Community College. It's been a good experience for the most part. Mostly good, qualified instructors. The NAC program there is good. I just turned in my paperwork for my transfer degree completion/graduation. 4 years down and (hopefully) 2 more to go!

I did all my pre-reqs at Highline Community College. Loved it!

I'm starting to get more nervous, letters should be getting ready to be sent soon, right? What all is involved if you do get in? Do you have a ton of orientations to attend, more paperwork, etc? I know you have to update some of your immunizations as well. Just want to know already :D

Time to start stalking mail box. Admission blog just been updated.

"We thank you for taking the time and effort to apply to our programs. Because we are unable to speak with every applicant individually, we are posting the most common and consistent reasons applicants were not offered admission to the BSN program. Many factors contribute to why the admissions committee may have denied an applicant. Please carefully review this list of common reasons for denial. Be sure to take into consideration that though a majority of applicants meet the minimum criteria and are generally competitive for admission to the program, each applicant is scored and considered in relation to her/his competitiveness within the entire pool of applicants. The UW School of Nursing received many more applications than spaces available in the program. Unfortunately, we are unable to admit every applicant."

Yay news!! May the stalking begin ;)

"Many applicants received letters stating that they were on a waitlist along with what position on the waitlist they hold."

Does this mean they already got their letters and know it's a maybe?? Or are they meaning "will be getting"???

The line about the essay and "clear line of thinking".. is this the proctored essay or the original sent with the application because they are two hugely different essays. At least for me haha (totally nervous laugh) :nailbiting:

So for formatting the resume, I took the information they wanted and included it in descriptions of jobs I've had, like community service, I've done with the different jobs I've had in the military, instead of listing them under "community service"....now I'm just confused...did they read what I wrote, or just automatically see it wasn't formatted exactly & toss me in the "deny" pile?!

And yeah, that "clear line of thinking"...I know for sure I wasn't clear on the proctored essay lol, I was freakin out too hard core!

Oh the wait is going to be agnozing!
