Hi there!
Wondering if anyone can provide some information or review of the Critical Care Internship Program at the University of Utah.
Thanks!

I am currently in the CCI. What questions do you have?
Awesome! Congrats on getting into the program!
Has it been a good experience so far?
What was the interview like? standard nursing interview questions?
Not sure if you are able to answer this at the moment but do you know what kind of shifts are typically offered on completion, 50/50 days and nights or is it more common to work full time nights?
I know there is a 2 year commitment after the internship, is there fee if that is broken?

It has been an amazing experience. I moved to Utah from out of state just for the internship and it was the best decision I've made. The staff and unit managers are very supportive of new grads and teaching. I can't imagine myself anywhere else.
I know this seems cruel, but I'm not going to tell you about the interview or the questions. In my group, we all walked into the interview not knowing what to expect and I think that was a good thing.
Now, regarding shifts, that's a tough one. It really depends on the unit and what the unit needs that hires you. I think for some, but not all, do a 50/50 split for orientation (after program completion), but please do not quote me on that.
Yes, there is a two year commitment. I think it's 16k to break it- and as you work more hours, the debt is worked off. If you left a year and a half after completing the CCI you would still owe about 4k I believe. They give you a copy of the form to take home from your interview so you can read it over.
Any other questions?

I was scheduled for a CCI interview this Wednesday but I withdrew because of an Intermountain job offer I received.
Ok, I was wondering because I did the reference check and video a while ago, but haven't heard anything since.

I was wondering if anybody knows if they will let you start the CCI after you graduate, but prior to passing nclex?

You need to have your RN license in order to start the CCI program.
