University of Tulsa Nurse Anesthetist Program

Published

Good news for the people in Oklahoma. The University of Tulsa is up for initial accreditation from the Council on Accreditation for the Fall of 2016. Hopefully all goes well and we will finally have a CRNA program in the state of Oklahoma.

Sorry. I did not mean to be rude last night. I was very surprised that invites for interviews had started going out. Congratulations are in order then.

Can you give us some insight into when the interviews will be held? Can you share your statistics with us?

Hey ya’ll! Been following this thread since the beginning but first time commenting. I found out this week I got an interview but worried that there may be a lot of other people getting interviews as well. Hope I’m wrong though. Good luck to you all. And may TU get that accreditation asap so they don’t run into any issues!

Congrats! When was your whole application completed?

I did it super early - as in like within 2 days of the portal opening. But it took a week or so for my references to complete their part.

Congratulations. When are interviews scheduled for? Are you in Oklahoma? Can you share your statistics?

It took forever for my references to complete their stuff as well. I completed my application a few days after it opened but my final reference didnt submit their stuff until February 8th.

Interviews I believe are scheduled the first two weeks of March. Yes I am in Oklahoma. Not really feeling getting too detailed with my stats but I’ll say I’ve got a great gpa, 6+ years nursing, CCRN, and plus some other things that may have helped my resume.

Thanks for sharing. I am also in Oklahoma and I'm very excited that the state will finally get a CRNA program. Have you applied anywhere else, interviewed anywhere else?

I have almost 5 years nursing, almost 4 years ICU, CCRN, BLS/ACLS/PALS, 7 years as a Paramedic before getting my RN, decent GPA (first school GPA was terrible then got my life straight when I knew what I wanted to do).

I bet they’ll like that prior paramedic experience for sure! I also applied for TCU but TU is my first choice and always has been. So if I get into TU and they get their accreditation, I’m going to abandon the TCU pursuit. Yeah I don’t know anyone who didn’t screw up their gpa somewhat in the beginning of their life and have it it haunt them a decade later haha (including me). I’m really hoping this program paves the way for future programs in OK. How cool would it be to say you were in the first class of CRNA’s graduating from OK!!??? ? ugh I want this SO much!!!!!

Does anybody know how many applicants will be accepted into the program in total?

Geez, I hope it doesn’t stay at 15 for future classes. They probably had 300 applicants. Slim odds!

Welcome to the CRNA school process. It has gotten more competitive every year.
