Hi,
I am planning to apply to the 2014 AE MSN program, at UT Austin, in August. I noticed that this site has A LOT of helpful feedback. Does anyone have any suggestions for the best preparations when applying to these competitive programs? My GPA is a 3.6, I have a BS in Health Science, I have worked in health care administration for 14 years and I am ready for a change. I just want to feel confident about my application and would appreciate any advice.
Thank you
I have applied for the MSN CNS program and there were striking similarities in the questions they asked me compared to AE MSN applicants. I, too, was told they will make a decision by February. I admit looking at other posts helped me prepare for my interview. My only problem was that I worked a 12 hour shift in a busy Med/Surg the night before my interview. And I was slow to respond on one of their questions. It's hard to tell/predict what they really look for in prospective students. I was really surprised when one of the panel members told me that the reason I was granted an interview is because they don't receive a lot of applicants from my demographic. Well I wish all of you best of luck. The hard part about doing the AE is that they try to squeeze in all professional BSN courses in 1 year, which is something I could never have done.

As far as interview questions, what's been written in the 2012 thread post 66 and onward seems about right. I also recall being asked to discuss a current nursing issue. And like most interviews, there was an opportunity to ask your interviewer(s) questions, so come prepared with at least one insightful question whether it be about the program, desired track, and/or the nursing profession as a whole.
Good luck to everyone invited for an interview!
