University of Texas AE MSN Summer of 2014

Nursing Students Post Graduate

Published

Hi,

I am planning to apply to the 2014 AE MSN program, at UT Austin, in August. I noticed that this site has A LOT of helpful feedback. Does anyone have any suggestions for the best preparations when applying to these competitive programs? My GPA is a 3.6, I have a BS in Health Science, I have worked in health care administration for 14 years and I am ready for a change. I just want to feel confident about my application and would appreciate any advice.

Thank you

@smithkj1, I quoted the actual deferment option verbiage in post #43. My personal opinion is yes, but it's best that you confirm with SoN.

@smithkj1, I just got an email from our grad coordinator which should answer your question:

"As a deferral, you automatically have admissions to the Summer 2014 AEMSN program and we are excited to see you start your program.

At this time I need an official response on your intent to start the program Summer 2014."

Wait-listed. Super bummed! Still, congrats to everyone else & best of luck in the program!

@ltmalli, keep your head up... see if you can find out where on the wait list you are at and you'll get a better sense of your chances... i knew of at least one person who was originally wait-listed, then got on... i know when i deferred someone got my slot... i know if someone who says yes, but doesn't pass prereq(s) currently being taken will get a deferrment and another slot opens up (might be too late for some though)...

@atxmitch, thank you for your words of encouragement!! I appreciate it. I took your advice & was able to find out my ranking on the wait-list.....I now feel a lot better about my chances. Only time will tell!!

I too am anxiously awaiting notice. Has anyone heard back from maternity?

Very happy that I received my acceptance a few days ago!! June is just around the corner.... :)

Congrats Ltmalli! Remember to join our FB group.

....can't believe I never came across this during all my searches for interview questions and all. :( Glad to get in, though, and excited to meet everyone!! :)

@Longhorn2009, I saw you were accepted into the psych NP track...even though I'm about a year late...congrats! I just read through this thread and am currently in an accelereated BSN program looking to pursue a PMHNP degree eventually after I graduate this upcoming December. I've looked at UT Austin's pmhnp program so I wanted to know what you think of it so far and if there is any advice you would give?! Or even anything you've heard about other programs, etc. Anything is helpful!
