Anyone starting USI's PMHNP program Fall 2019?
Also reaching out to current or previous USI NP students for advice and networking

Not unless you are willing to relocate to the Evansville area. However, they will provide contacts to previous preceptors in your area. I sent personalized letters type written with hand addressed envelopes, resume, and business card to about 200 physicians for the medical part and to about 50 for the psychiatric part. In reality few out of states schools (if any) are going to be able to guarantee preceptors. I've heard of some of the big for profit schools like Capella and Kaiser paying hospitals (or guaranteeing lower tuition rates for employees) in exchange for "clinical rotations". However, this really wouldn't benefit you in psych since you need to have clinical spots in a "clinic setting" meaning that you see all ages and diagnoses. I will plan to stay active in this forum should you encounter issues as you progress through the program and may be able to offer helpful insights or approaches to dealing with the material.
I would refer you to the article in US News and world reports that ranks and reviews programs. I believe that it lists USI as admitting around 50%. I do not know how this is spread over the various specialties (for example is FNP more competitive than PMHNP?). They look at your entire GPA. Mine was around 3.85 before the program. I'm not sure what my BSN GPA was, but I know i got one B. I believe they require two years RN experience, but I'm not sure if and how this is weighted. They do require an essay and a few letters of rec. However, no interviews, and no GRE's. If you had great GRE's, but low GPA's. then it might be worth applying also to some schools that use GRE's like the University of South Alabama.

Yes, the practice where you do clinical must see all ages. You could “combine” several sites to achieve this if necessary.
