University of Southern Indiana (USI) PMHNP - Current/Prospective Students?

Published

I have enrolled in the University of Southern Indiana's online Psych NP Program beginning in January. It looks like a good program and everyone I've talked to has been very helpful. Really have no idea what to expect for the workload, though, hoping that it's both high quality and doable with a challenging work and family life... Anyone else on here a current/former/prospective student? Would love to hear about your experience and connect.

About me: Mostly ER experience in California, so while lots of psych not a psych unit. Especially interested in the burgeoning field of psychedelics in psychiatry and psychology for treatment of resistant mental illnesses.

@wunderjen Hello, thinking of applying to this program. How is it going so far? Do they provide recorded lectures at least for the speciality courses. Would you recommend it, to another busy working parent?

If you're still out there, how has the program been at USI?  Please update, if you can.  Thanks

I am starting the PMC-PMHNP in Fall 2025 at USI, and will be taking NURS 661 and 662. Anyone here attending USI PMHNP? I would love to connect.

I also created a Facebook group "USI PMHNP". Please join if accepted to the USI PMHNP program. Would like to connect.

Hello,

I'm starting May 2025, for Summer we are enrolled in the first 6 courses for a total of 18 credits. I am not sure why they would do this to Summer students when fall and Spring have 6 credit work loads.

Hi Sherine, I start in Fall 2025, but taking Psychopharm and PMHNP I. I created a group on Facebook USI PMHNP, you should join.

Sherine, what are courses are you taking in May?

@iamKira

I am taking 601- 606 it's looking to be a very busy Summer for me.

Yes, I've been reading it is a busy program. And it's important that you stay ahead. I am on the Post-Master's Certificate, so I go straight to the Specialty courses.

Hi Sherine! I wanted to follow up, how is the program? Have you been getting recorded lectures to watch?

Hi, I am currently in the last week of bimester 1. 602 does have recorded lectures weekly. 601 & 603 have a weekly recording that briefly covers topics for the week and review of expectations for the weeks assignments. So far so good! Not much of any busy work or nonsensical discussion post.

@Sherine Samuels

would you recommend the program so far? Are the teachers helpful?
