I have enrolled in the University of Southern Indiana's online Psych NP Program beginning in January. It looks like a good program and everyone I've talked to has been very helpful. Really have no idea what to expect for the workload, though, hoping that it's both high quality and doable with a challenging work and family life... Anyone else on here a current/former/prospective student? Would love to hear about your experience and connect.
About me: Mostly ER experience in California, so while lots of psych not a psych unit. Especially interested in the burgeoning field of psychedelics in psychiatry and psychology for treatment of resistant mental illnesses.

So far so good! Not much of any busy work or nonsensical discussion post.
Thank you for sharing your experience. I am glad to hear that you have had a good experience thus far. How are the exams covered, and do they specify clearly the materials that you need to study on?

How are your professors? Have they been supportive? I hope they are committed to the success of their students.
Apart from feeling aggrieved that I have to do six classes during the Summer, I am actually happy that I chose this program because the professors have been helpful to me so far. They have designed the program for our success!
After the first 6 classes, it's 1 class per semester for a full load. This is done to ensure that we spend quality time learning and understanding the material. I already have my exam schedule for my fall class, advance pathophysiology, because they want to set us up for success.
It's a state university! There was not a lot of information available for me to assess their reputation.
I do value my experience so far but again I am only doing what we call the fluff work at this point and my experience is limited. It is a difficult program but I think it needs to be when we are going to be diagnosing and treating patients.

Thank you for providing insights on the program, Sherine. It has been difficult finding information about student experiences online, and the information you provided has been valuable. Now I can rest assured that I chose a good program.
Thank you for your insight @Sherine Samuels. Please keep us all posted throughout your journey, if you find the time. I have seen various posts throughout the years asking about Southern Indiana University and their PMHNP programs. It would be fantastic to get updates from people who are actually in the program and their opinions as to if it is worthy or not.
