Direct Admission
The Direct Admission program is designed for first-time students who are applying within the first calendar year of high school graduation.
Direct Admission Requirements (not all-inclusive)
- Senior year (fall or Spring) cumulative high school GPA of 3.5 or above on a 4.0 scale
- Minimum ACT of 26 or an SAT after March 2016 with a combined score of 1260 (reading and math, with minimum 580 in each area)
Conditional Direct Admission
Conditional direct admission is designed only for students who are first-time degree-seeking students and who are applying within the first calendar year of high school graduation.
Conditional Direct Admission Requirements (not all-inclusive)
A senior year (fall or Spring) cumulative HS GPA of 3.4 - 3.49 on a 4.0 scale and minimum ACT of 26 or an SAT after March 2016 with a combined score of 1260 (evidence-based reading and math, with minimum 580 in each area).
OR
A senior year (fall or Spring) cumulative HS GPA of 3.5 or higher on a 4.0 scale and minimum ACT of 25 or an SAT after March 2016 with a combined score of 1220 (evidence-based reading and math, with minimum 560 in each area).
Standard Admission
The Standard Admission process is for the student who has completed 31 hours of required university courses. August 1st is the deadline.
Registered Nurse to Bachelor of Science in Nursing (RN-BSN)
RN-BSN Admission Requirements (not all-inclusive)
- Associate degree or diploma from nationally accredited nursing education program
- Cumulative 2.3 GPA previous academic work
- Consideration for students with 2.0 - 2.29 GPA
- Unencumbered RN license - no pending action
- Employed by/have access to, health care work environment for course projects
Graduate
Master of Science in Nursing (MSN)
Admission Requirements (not all-inclusive)
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing from a nationally accredited school
- Minimum cumulative BSN GPA of 3.00
- Undergraduate statistics, grade C or better
- Recommended (not required): one year full-time or two thousand hours of clinical practice as an RN within the last five years
- Unrestricted/unencumbered US RN license in all states of practice
- MSN and Post MSN online programs have restricted work that is within the US only; States must recognize the graduate's MSN coursework to work within an MSN role. Exception: active military status
Post-MSN Admission Requirements (not all-inclusive)
- Nationally accredited MSN
- Minimum cumulative MSN 3.00 GPA
- Recommended but not required: one year full-time or 2,000 hours of clinical practice as an RN within the last 5 years
- Unencumbered US RN license in the state of practice
- MSN and Post MSN online programs have restricted work that is within the US only; States must recognize the graduate's MSN coursework to work within an MSN role. Exception: active military status
Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP)
Admission Requirements (additional criteria required)
- Completed a master's degree in nursing from an accredited school of nursing
- Earned graduate program GPA of 3.0 based on a 4.0 scale or the equivalent
- Satisfactorily completed a course in graduate research (grade of B or better)
Accreditation
The Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) accredited the baccalaureate degree in nursing, master's degree in nursing, Doctor of Nursing Practice, and post-graduate APRN certificate programs.
The Univesity of Southern Indiana is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission.
