University of South Florida (USF) DNP CRNA 2024

Published

Hey everyone, I just thought I would start a thread on the USF 2024 DNAP admissions. As the priority deadline of August 15th is approaching fast, I would love to hear from others.

I got a 300 and 4 on the writing. I get super nervous during exams.

I have a 3.7 nursing GPA, 3.4 undergraduate GPA.

CVICU experience, our "COVID ICU", and currently PICU experience at a level one trauma magnet hospital.

Charge nurse, preceptor, "first five" trainer, chemo certified, and I have several other certifications.

Very nervous about applying. I was really sick and receiving treatments in undergraduate school when my first career was research focused so it shows I have several withdraws from classes. Not having a real "personal statement" to explain those makes me very nervous that they won't even consider me for an interview.

Post like these make me chuckle. You have awesome stats and probably better than most that will apply!

Shoot... I wish a had a 3.7 Nursing GPA ?

You'll be fine and a solid candidate

Nothing about the interview process, many of the programs want their exact process to stay within the program. They do accept about 50 students per cohort

I believe it's 60 now. They updated it on their website.

Did anyone else attend the info session today?

Yes it is 60 now, and yes I was at the live session.

Specializes in ICUs, PACU, OR.

Following this page, you all sound so experienced! I'm currently studying for CCRN and GRE to take them this fall and planning on applying to this program next year. Currently in a prep course for CCRN.

I have 2 years Trauma/SICU at a level II hospital, 1 year SICU/MICU as a Travel nurse, 2 years PACU as a travel nurse where I managed drips and incubated patients on ventilators occasionally. Currently working as a circulator RN in the OR for occasionally emergent cases, less than 1 year experience.

BSN, ACLS, PALS, TNCC

3.74 ADN and 4.0 BSN

Charge Nurse in my PACU travel nurse time as well as precepted, working on my clinical ladder and leadership involvement at my current job. Have logged 26 hours shadowing two CRNAs in the OR I work at off the clock and plan on accruing more with them. Have saved over six figures for school and have no kids or pets.

My BIG question for you all is whether I need to go back to an ICU to get more recent experience before I apply for a CRNA program?? I'm comfortable titrating drips and administering emergency medications, performing moderate sedation, managing vents, lines, etc. Please let me know what you think! I appreciate any feedback!

Ummm... you're good! LOL

I can see maybe going back to the ICU 6 months before you apply so you can tell them during the interview you are back in the ICU in case they ask

Makes sense, thanks!! Do you think OR experience as an RN is any benefit on my application and resume or should I just go back to ICU now?? I am enjoying working close to CRNAs here and getting to pick their brain tho LOL. Good luck to you!

Good luck to everyone!
I need your advise guys. I graduated several months ago and I have been working for 6 months in an ICU now and will be a year before matriculation. I am a foreign medical doctor and I have done 3 years of anesthesiology research at an ivy league school with several publications and presentations at the ASA. My question is do you think I should apply now or wait for the next cycle? I don't know how they will look at my past experiences compared to my 6 month nursing experience. I won't have a ccrn nor any charge experience by the time I apply. My nursing GPA is 3.9 though.

My advice is give it a shot my friend, it does not hurt to try, the worst situation is they say no, you won't get that opportunity if you don't try. Your publications and previous experience could go a long way.

Does anyone know if our personal statements need to be double spaced? Thanks!

They want MLA format, so I would assume they do

They want APA* as stated above it should probably be as professional as possible.
