Thank you so much for the encouraging words. I really appreciate! Are there any study tips you can give me in terms of the program as a whole, for example studying, etc. Maybe things that you wish someone would have told you before starting school.
I am got accepted into the post grad program for PMHNP. I have my masters in nursing education I have to take the pharm and patho class.

Thank you so much

In relation to Pharm & Patho? Nothing further needed except study what they give you. The study guides in Patho are what you should focus on. In Pharm, the study guides aren't as specific.

One thing I wish I'd done: during Pharm, keep a spreadsheet of common illnesses you'll see in your day-to-day practice speciality of first & second line meds to prescribe. It'll come in handy when you start clinicals. Knowing which meds to try if others have failed. I see that a lot with meds for depression/anxiety. I always use UpToDate to check if I'm on the right track before I present my plan to my preceptor. You'll get access to UpToDate through the school's biomedical library for free. Very useful!

Thank you so much. Do you know if there will be a facebook group page for the students entering into the PMHNP this fall?

I don't know. I'm in Dual Role and started in 2018. Our cohort created its own group once we started didactics/clinicals. I'm not in any PMHNP groups.

When you're in the foundation courses, all the tracks are together. There are separate FB groups for each course, but they're strictly moderated and only students with a JagID and a snapshot of their PAWS registration can join those groups once the current semester ends. Send me a PM before your semester starts and I can send you the instructions on how to join those groups. They don't accept any members after the semester starts or before registration. New students register in July.

I have been accepted into the Post-Masters Certificate Program for Psych NP. I only have ED experience.

Hello

I start the Post grad PMHNP in fall 2020. How is it going so far? Is there any tips you can give for being successful in the program? Thank you so much!

Sure! My GPA is 3.3. I worked at my state's State Mental Hospital for 5 months on a locked unit and that is my only psych experience that they are counting. Due to not having 2 years or more of direct in/out patient psych experience I will have an extra class that includes 120 additional clinical hours following a BSN psych nurse. Even with the additional class credits the program is one of the lowest for required credit hours that I have found, so I'm not mad about it.

Which state are you from? And how is it going so far in the program?

For Pharm & Patho, get a .pdf version of the book and learn to use the Bookmark feature in Adobe (you have to buy the full version of Adobe for the program anyway). When you're taking your exams that allow books/notes, use the CTRL+F feature to quickly find key words. The Bookmarks help you jump to the correct chapter/section if you're unsure where to look. It will save you a TON on time on your exams.

Get comfortable with APA 7.0. Everything you write will be in APA format and most people lose easy points due to APA on their papers/discussion posts.

The "three P's" are your foundation before clinicals (patho, pharm, & physical assessment). The other classes are a complete waste of time. Since you're post-grad, you've probably already finished them :) I'm not in the PMHNP track, so I don't know how your didactics/clinicals will be. I've had a good experience so far in the dual role ACNP/FNP track. 8 more months left to go...
