ah, finally!!!! i have been scouring allnurses for other USA PNP applicants/students. congrats to getting in!!

i was wondering how you were liking the program so far (although youre probably just a few weeks into it)

and my big question is, if you dont mind me asking, how was your GPA and other admission requirements? how many people are in the PNP program? my GPA is good, but not stellar. i just wonder what they really look at since they dont require GREs or references.

I have been in the PNP program since the fall 2011. In my second semester now with Pharm and Nursing Roles. My opinion is the program is good. Don't expect to be spoon fed though. It is very self directed. If you do the work, readings, spend time on your threaded discussions and papers, you will do fine. Some have put down the fact that courses have open book exams, thinking that makes it easier. Open book helps with some answers but for the most part you have to know your stuff. Many answers required application of knowledge and higher level thinking skills. 50 questions in an hour but you don't have that much time to look things up. I got an A in each of my courses. Did well on my first Pharm exam though that required much more application skills than some of the Patho. There is credibility to the program. They use the Remote Proctor and believe me you can't get away with much including a phone ringing, dog barking, etc. It must be test environment as if in a classroom. I firmly believe your grad education is what you make of it. Regardless of what school you are in, if you want to put the time in, you will learn. I am enjoying the program, though I miss human interaction in a classroom setting. But the study groups are great and have conversed with many good people who are in the same boat as me. Any idea on how competitive is was to get in

My GPA was 3.79 in bio/chem and 3.69 in second degree nursing. I had 3.98 in grad school credits in various courses. Been a nurse for 22 years, mostly peds/picu/nicu. I applied last minute and was told would probably get in for spring '12 and not fall '11. Much to my surprise I was accepted for the fall. I am thinking my credentials were better than others and maybe bumped them. The earlier you get in your application, the better they say. But that wasn't the case with me. I hear it is very competitive as a whole. If you have 3.5 or higher though, good chance of being admitted.

mine was 3.3 total, 3.48 nursing :/ now i wish i had taken nursing school more seriously. i really could have pulled close to a 4.0 in nursing school if i had actually tried.
