Whoooo! Accepted to the PNP program. Now to get everything in. I was a little on the low end, but it didn't figure in my last semester and 16 credits of all A's as I just finished my BSN in May. My nursing GPA was a 3.02, my cumulative GPA was a 3.27, I have about 2 years of PICU experience.

Meowmiixer I am soo happy for you, congrats!!!!

Hi everyone,

For anyone that can help in answering my questions it would be greatly appreciated.

I am interested in attending the University of South Alabama in the Fall of 2015. I have applied to the program in hopes of being accepted. I have a few questions and concerns for anyone who knows a little about this program.

1. How competitive is it to be accepted into the program?

2. I have heard some not so good things concerning the Family NP program at USA, though the information read on here is out dated, would the feelings be mutual concerning the Adult/Gero primary care NP program?

3. I am currently working full-time 40hrs/week. Do you think it would be feasible to work full-time while also pursing this program on the full-time curriculum? (Not concerned about making the clinical hours, just concerned about the class time needed)

Hey guys I applied for the Spring 2015, FNP track sent all my required documents in since last month and still have not received notice from USA as to if all documents were received ! Is this normally how it is with this school? Has anyone encountered the same problem? Really need some insight on this:)

Oh you probably won't. I had mine in 3 months in advance and I never received a notice. I tried to confirm they received everything about 4x and never received an answer, even calling, they told me to email them. The acceptance letters were also a month late. But, I did get in, it was just stressful. Even though the application says you'll get a confirmation letter, it's not very likely you will.

Thank so much for this info! I called a while couple minutes ago and the lady told me, she has no way of knowing and most likely I won't hear back from them before the deadline!

I applied to the Spring 2015 FNP track as well. I did receive confirmation that they received all of my application stuff. I guess it will be a while before we hear from them about acceptance?

Quick question-on your CPR cards, do they require them to be typed on the back? I took a class and they handed out cards with the back in handwriting. I have heard that this can be a problem, so if USA CON is only accepting the typed ones, I wanted to get that taken care of ahead of time.

Thanks! Good luck to all other applicants!

I don't remember it saying anything about that in particular. I don't see why that would be a problem but I could be wrong. I don't think they really gave specifics like that, but if it was not sufficient they would reject it and let you know. They were even taking letters from provider as temporary documentation if you were missing the card, so I think worst case, they would accept it and give you 30 days to get a new one. But I think even that is unlikely. Here is what it says on the certified background website. That's the site where we have to go (after we get accepted) and put all our shot records, copy of license, CPR, etc...

Submit your ACLS, ATLS, C-PRO, BLS OR Professional Rescuer CPR course. Copy must be front & back of the card and card must be signed. Renewal date will be set based on the expiration date of the card. Certificates OR letters from provider are accepted temporarily until card arrived with a renewal date of 30 days.
