Hellooooo,
Anyone out there accepted to the Nursing program @ the University of San Francisco (USF) for the Spring? I originally applied for the Fall and got rejected but then received a letter in June offering a spot for Spring clinicals. I already sent the tuition deposit/intent to enroll in the summer, too.
Has anyone received any more information yet (I heard we're supposed to be getting some sort of "Welcome Packet"?") ? I e-mailed one of the transfer admissions directors and she said we would be receiving mail soon. Orientation is supposed to be in mid-January and it's already November so I'm already sort of freaking out because I still have to apply for loans and housing and whatnot.
Thanks in advance!

Hi to everyone.
I know this is an old thread, but I applied to USF's BSN program for Spring 2010 admission and was wondering how everyone's enjoying the program. I'm not sure of my chances, but I do have volunteer experience and CNA experience under my belt. I was also Treasurer of our school's Pre Nursing Society and have a good letter of recommendation from my Anatomy teacher.
I took a 4 semester unit Microbiology course about 2 years ago at my community college and got a B however I heard that USF needs a 5 semester unit Microbiology course (anyone know if this is true?) so I'm taking a 5 unit Micro this semester and currently hold a strong 98%. I got an A in Anatomy and Physio and General Psych. Does anyone know how they handle "in progress" classes? I wasn't sure how to calculate my GPA for admission since I'm pretty sure they need the 5 unit Micro and thus I don't have all my classes completed yet. I also have all the "co-requisites" completed too. Anyway... any insight/help would be greatly appreciated! :)
As I mentioned in another thread, I took another 5 unit Micro class in order to raise my GPA. I'm not sure if USF will take it in place of my 4 unit one or average the two grades or just ignore it altogether. However, I took the 5 unit Micro for HSU (which only accepts that version) as I applied there for spring 2010 admission as well :)
Hey! I know this thread is so old but I hope some of you will respond.
I just got accept to USF nursing program (bsn) for Fall 2011. I'm super excited but I'm afraid I might not be able to afford the cost of tuition. Any advice about financial aid would be great! I have already applied for FAFSA and I'm not get very much help. I need at least $40,000 for the year and banks don't give out student loans anymore.
I applied to state colleges as well but my grades aren't competitive enough to get in. USF is where I want to go and I don't want money issues to hold me back.
It would be greatly appreciated if you leave an email. I would love to hear more about usf!
hi helenkay! congrats on your acceptance to usf! i'm going to be applying there in the fall and was just wondering what your stats were (gpa and experience wise) if you don't mind sharing.
my friend goes there for the program and there are some scholarships you could apply to that might help you out financially!
There are several scholarships that you can apply for in the nursing field. The Stafford loans are also very helpful (the school should give you a financial aid packet which will allow you to apply for these loans). I'd opt to take these loans vs private loans with banks because I've heard that some hospitals pay off (or pay some off) your stafford loans once they hire you, but not private.
Kha2,
Are you a freshmen or a transfer student? I think they require different stuff depending on your status. I'm a transfer student.
I had a 3.02 overall GPA (not very high at all!)
I had a letter of recommendation from a previous supervisor
I also wrote an admission paper which I put a lot of work in to (it probably made up for my low GPA)
As for experience and volunteer work, I have none.
But I do speak another language and I am a California resident.
If you're wondering what my nursing prereqs grades are like, I had about a 3.2 GPA and I completed all my co-prereqs as well.
Hopefully this helps. If you have anymore Q's just let me know :)

For those that are in the program, how is it? I'm probably going to apply in the fall.
What's your schedule like? Do any of you have kids?
