University of San Francisco Spring 2009

Published

Hellooooo,

Anyone out there accepted to the Nursing program @ the University of San Francisco (USF) for the Spring? I originally applied for the Fall and got rejected but then received a letter in June offering a spot for Spring clinicals. I already sent the tuition deposit/intent to enroll in the summer, too.

Has anyone received any more information yet (I heard we're supposed to be getting some sort of "Welcome Packet"?") ? I e-mailed one of the transfer admissions directors and she said we would be receiving mail soon. Orientation is supposed to be in mid-January and it's already November so I'm already sort of freaking out because I still have to apply for loans and housing and whatnot.

Thanks in advance!

Got off the waiting list! Was very torn about the decision, but I've decided to go to NYU instead. I wish everyone an amazing experience in SF....such an incredible city!

I applied for Spring Admission to the BSN program, and still haven't received any kind of response! I feel like I call admissions everyday, but everyone keeps saying "the letters will go out soon."

Anyone else in this position?!?!?! School starts in less than 20 days, and if I'm accepted I have to change my whole world. I wish they would just tell me yes or no already!

They're offering admission...but not for clinicals until Spring 2010!

Oh my I received the same offer! They said that they'll admit me as a transfer for the nursing program but I'll have to wait until Spring 2010 for clinicals! I was so upset for having to wait a year, but at least we're guaranteed a spot. Better than not getting into a nursing program at all, right? I've decided to just give it a shot. Are you planning on attending for Spring '09, afrobuddhess?

Yeah, I accepted the offer as well. I feel the same way about being guaranteed a spot, anywhere honestly. I have two more pre-requisites to finish in Spring so I will be attending to take Anat and Microbio.

Are you going to go to orientation anyway? I haven't recieved my official letter in the mail with my usfconnect info so I can register for classes, submit my space deposit, etc...

maybe then they will explain if you can begin taking other nursing classes without clinicals? So you can still be on track somewhat? Do you know anything about that??

So confusing...

i've already received the welcome packet, and the acceptance letter mentioned that during the first two semesters of wait we will have to take core curriculum and prerequisite classes that we haven't yet finished. So when spring '10 arrives, you'll have everything already completed and go straight into clinicals, from my understanding at least. I will be attending orientation but ill be there around 11:30 because of a class at City College. Hopefully that's acceptable. Will you be attending?

question for those accepted to USF.

how many semester/quarter units did you complete when you applied and also what pre-reqs did you complete. I'm looking into transferring from a CSU to USF for nursing but i am no too sure as to what courses i should take. I am just curious to see what route everyone here has taken.

This question is directed to both, those accepted directly into clinicals and those who are accepted to the school but are waiting to start clinicals.

missbinki: yes, I am going to orientation next week. I am still dealing with admission and records, because I have no idea how to formally accept my admission to the program. I think I am supposed to submit a payment or deposit but haven't received explicit instructions. (That could be because the acceptance letter went to another address.)

I hope during orientation they explain the correlation between clinicals and core curriculum. The website makes it seem as if everything has to go in order, but maybe that isn't the case? meaning, if we don't start clinicals until 2010, can we still graduate in 6 semesters or is it longer...so many questions!

Jay as in J: I have a BA from San Francisco State and attended a Master's program at UCLA (I'm changing careers). I have 2 more pre-reqs to take before I am "clinically ready." You need to take Anatomy/Physio/Micro all w/labs, as well as General Psychology to be "clinically ready." I was told by a nursing admin asst. that they would only be accepting "clinically ready students" and it would be "a waste of my time" to apply without being clinically ready. I applied, and I got in. But I do already have a BA, and a high GPA, plus both of my parents were alums, maybe that had something to do with my acceptance????

Good luck!

afrobuddhess: according to the acceptance letter, everything, including registration, will be explained and completed during the orientation. All new students will register during the orientation, so that's something we don't need to worry about until the 22nd. Also, because we'll be waiting two semsesters, i'm going to assume that it will take us not 6 but 8 semesters (or four years) to graduate due to the waiting period. Quite unfortunate but better than not getting in at all! i hope this helped.

Julz,

If you're still wondering about class etc., we will be allowed to register for classes at orientation. I can't wait!! School starts in 1 week!

....sorry I've been MIA lately...hehe

SF123 - I'm really excited/nervous for orientation! I can't wait to get all my classes (finally!).

Good luck to everyone and hope to see you guys on Thursday! :)
