University of San Francisco Spring 2009

Published

Hellooooo,

Anyone out there accepted to the Nursing program @ the University of San Francisco (USF) for the Spring? I originally applied for the Fall and got rejected but then received a letter in June offering a spot for Spring clinicals. I already sent the tuition deposit/intent to enroll in the summer, too.

Has anyone received any more information yet (I heard we're supposed to be getting some sort of "Welcome Packet"?") ? I e-mailed one of the transfer admissions directors and she said we would be receiving mail soon. Orientation is supposed to be in mid-January and it's already November so I'm already sort of freaking out because I still have to apply for loans and housing and whatnot.

Thanks in advance!

Hi there,

I just applied to USF's MSN-CNL for Spring 2009. Is this the same program you applied to? I applied last minute because I didn't even know the program existed. In the event that I do get in, I'm not totally convinced that the program is worth it. Am I correct in my math that it is $67,000? Do you think that a RN with a Masters will be eligible for a higher salary or more likely to find a job than an BSN RN? Just curious as to why you applied to the program.

Thanks.

Hey I applied to the spr 09 meo-cnl too! And yes it is about $67k for the whole thing. I chose this program because it is two years long and give you an MSN. Also it is a general master's with no specialty, which I like because I am not sure what area I want to do yet. USF is a great school and I also have a friend who started the program this past June. She LOVES it. I don't think you will get paid more right away with any MSN, if not only a little more than regular RNs, because you have to work for a couple years to get experience first. When did you apply? When do you think we'll hear? I can't wait to hear..

No...sorry, I applied for the BSN program. I actually visited campus today. Hehe. Anyways, from what I heard, USF has a great (but tough) nursing program and I know the tuition is ridiculous, but I'm sure all of it will pay off.

Best of luck to both of you! :)

Thanks for your replies. Yes, it will pay off eventually. I just carry such a heavy load from undergrad that my main goal is not to acquire too much more. Best of luck to you guys! Maybe I'll see you at USF!

Yes, I had applied to the undegraduate nursing program for the Spring 2009 and got accepted! I believe there is an orientation for the program which starts somewhere in January. Anyways, I am excited to start the program as I just received my acceptance letter yesterday in the mail. However, I got accepted into the nursing programs at SFSU and USF, but I don't know which school to choose. If I can get some advise, that would be helpful. Thanks.:D

Congratulations on your acceptance! I don't really know how SFSU's nursing program is but I'm sure if you do enough research on the forums you could find out from other people. & to be accepted to both USF and SFSU! You're a smart one! I got rejected from both when I applied for the Fall 2008 and am just VERY lucky to get in for the Spring.

Orientation is January 16, and I think school starts on the 23rd. I haven't received any other information/packets though (just one on residence and housing when I got accepted back in June), have you? Please update me if you get anything else! :)

Hi! Thanks for responding back to my question. Anyways, I believe there is an orientation to the program on January 22nd. The nursing program begins on January 26th, 2009! I am a little nervous!

Hi, i just got my acceptance for the msn program today too! I know and have heard from a lot of nurses at stanford and such that USf is a great school. Just curious tho, duke112, when you say that its a general program wat do you mean? Isnt it CNL specialty? Also does anyone know whether you can switch to nurse anesthesia from this after completing the bachelors? Go USF lol

Congrats! I got my acceptance today as well! Yea, it is technically a CNL specialty, but you can be a CNL in any area -acute care, peds, etc. Some master's degrees are in only one of those specific areas (NP's or CNS) I don't know about anesthesia though. It's also not a BSN, in the end you get an RN and MSN...so it's a generalist master's meaning you could go into any area basically.

Yeah i actually meant after completing the msn can u still go into anesthesia?. Btw, did you get the acceptance packet or something? coz i got a call and not an official acceptance letter. Im so amped to start this.

I am REALLLLY excited too! I think you can do anesthesia after but of course it will take longer. Yea I got the packet in the mail today but no phone call...
