University of San Francisco Spring 2019 Applicants

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

Hi everyone! I noticed there wasn't a forum yet for the Spring 2019 applicants that applied to the University of San Francisco. I'm hoping others can join as we come together to see if we made it! Recently I just checked my portal and it said that my decision has been sent in mail. I'm not sure if that's a good sign or not. Has anyone else had their "decision mail sent" status up on the portal yet? If so, let me know!

Just a thought. Do you think it would be appropriate to ask the admissions counselor if we receive an email with the decision as well or if it is solely by mail?

Hi Lvb91, no all communication was through email.

Application was sent on 08/31/17

I recvd an email from [email protected] (School of nursing health professions admissions)on 09/12/17 stating my application was "incomplete". I had already graduated with a Bachelors and the school i went to on the transcript it did not have a completion date. So I contacted my school to get an official document stating I had graduated from the school. I sent that into the the department via email.

and on 11/16/17 I recvd an eamil from USF stating "An admission status was available on the portal"

I was taking a class at the time and one of the students in the class did not receive that email and had anxiously been awaiting it thinking we were all getting the email. I later found out that two students who were in that class with me got accepted into the entry MSN program but never received anything via the portal. It was official mail.

Putting two and two together I learned that denials were via portal and acceptances were via mail.

we also did not have a waitlist program at the time so I am not sure if that is something they do now.

BUT THAT DOES NOT GO TO SAY THAT IF YOU DO GET ACCEPTED IT WONT BE ON THE PORTAL. THERE WILL EVENTUALLY BE AN ADMISSION STATUS UPDATE ON THE PORTAL. Again, this was 2017 and denials went out first.

So my stats were actually really good.

Anatomy & Physiology A

Chemistry C+

Micro A

and all my english, math, history were either A or B. I think my overall GPA was 3.5

I also had direct healthcare experience .

All my communication for my USF application -- and just to clarify this was for the direct entry MSN for non-nurses was via portal and email.

I know my application was due September 01, 2017 and per my email, my decision portal update was emailed to me November 16, 2017.

I was not able to find out why I did not get accepted, they did not allow that. I think the official letter stating that USF doesn't need to explain the reason and only noted it to be competitive.

Oh no, I'm sorry to hear that. Your stats are good too! When I went for my informational interview, I was recommended the MSN route as well if I didn't get in this time around. It's sad that they weren't able to tell you why you weren't accepted, but it is very insightful to hear your experience with your application process. I haven't received any emails yet, so I really don't know anything.

yah I heard the deposit was $750 and they give you 2 weeks to pay it and if not your seat goes to a waitlisted student so I too would imagine they would send out apps to the accepted students first but who knows! I applied to Sacramento campus I would prefer the veteran care which is why I applied to that campus.

Aww we might not get the chance to be classmates, but I'm sending positive vibes that you get accepted!!! I heard from Fall 2018, a student got accepted a week before class.

I think that is completely appropriate to ask! I am sure they receive all these questions on a daily basis especially with the first time applicants and I am sure they understand our nerves and excitement! If you do end up asking them will you inform us on here the answer?

Of course I will! The more informed, the better. There are probably a ton of applicants wondering the same things we are haha.

Thank you so much!! I know I am so curious to see how many applicants there are each semester. I know the Sacramento campus only admits around 20 students and I know the spring is the biggest admitting class size for the SF campus 60-80 applicants! So hopefully you are one of those 60-80! I'm anxious for you to receive your letter keeping the fingers crossed for you!

Yes I actually just rechecked my emails when I was still finishing up my application. It says "If you apply by November 15, we'll get an admission decision to you by December 10." Which is why it is so early!

Oh gotcha! I submitted my application August 10! So hopefully I hear very soon!! What email did you see that info in? All I have been able to find is that they will send out letters starting the 10th of December.

It's actually weird I thought about checking my junk mail lol. Didn't expect to have any emails from USF there, but it was one of those deadline reminders. It was notifying me to make sure my application gets submitted by the deadline and then at the bottom, it said what I mentioned above!
