University of San Francisco Spring 2019 Applicants

Nursing Students School Programs

Hi everyone! I noticed there wasn't a forum yet for the Spring 2019 applicants that applied to the University of San Francisco. I'm hoping others can join as we come together to see if we made it! Recently I just checked my portal and it said that my decision has been sent in mail. I'm not sure if that's a good sign or not. Has anyone else had their "decision mail sent" status up on the portal yet? If so, let me know!

Ahh keep your head up you never know! I always thought they sent out first round acceptance first but I have no concrete knowledge to imply that, just thought..... keep us updated when you receive your letter! Ps. Your stats look great!!

No your stats are great! I'm sure it's fine! I don't think they would send rejections out this soon!

How long was your personal statement? & do you guys know if the calculate the pluses and minuses because I know some schools don't.

I know my past community college doesn't do plus and minuses only direct letter grades. So on my transcript an A is an A so on for the rest

Thank you! But my concern was that I attended two other colleges. I was fairly young at that time and didn't take school as serious as I do now. I calculated my cumulative GPA, and its like barely a 3.1. Although I'm not quite sure if they count the classes that don't really have anything to do with their requirements. Besides GE classes, I took some classes like legal aspects of healthcare as well as cancer management. So I wasn't sure if they counted that.

Thank you so much! Yea from the previous forum for Fall 2018 Applicants, they called the admissions counselor and the person they spoke to mentioned that rejection letters get sent out first for those applicants that are missing parts of requirements as well as people whose gpa is not high enough. So, I'm hoping that this isn't the case. My personal statement was rather long. I had some issues with the commonapp and was directed by a counselor to send it to a specific email. Once i completed my personal statement, it couldn't even fit when I tried to paste it on. So I just cut the part that I thought answered the question and then sent the whole thing to the email directed.

ALSO... I recently called the admission counselor and asked about the status of my application. They did confirm that they had made a decision and told me that it was sent in the mail. If I received no email that my status has changed, and am receiving something in the mail, I'm hoping it is an acceptance. Although, I'm pretty sure they've sent rejections in the mail, correct me if I'm wrong. This is my first time going through this so I am not that knowledgable.

So, from what I was told regarding the program was the minimum cumulative GPA requirement is 3.0 and this would mean that all prior classes that aren't required for the program are included in the cumulative part and then the pre reqs: anatomy, physiology, micro, and psychology needed to be completed with a B or better (which I saw on your previous post you did). Also if your gpa is 3.0 or above you would meet the gpa requirement. The same thing happened to me, right after I graduated high school I enrolled in community college in 2010 but ended up withdrawing from all the classes and never returned to school until 2016 after I became a single mother. I spoke with an admissions counselor about my previous terms with W's and she said it is not an issue; they look at how you are doing now.

Well, that could be a good thing you never know! Just stay positive and if you don't get in this round don't get discouraged! Do you mind me asking what admissions counselor you called? I am wondering if I too could call and ask if they had made a decision on my application as well!

I can definitely relate on some things. I am at least relieved to hear that they look at your current academic status and not based on what happened years ago (6 years in my case lol). The admission counselor's number is (415) 422-6563. You will be directed to choose an option and you choose i believe #4 which is application status. One of the Fall 2018 applicants kept calling the counselor since their decisions were being delayed, and was able to find out a lot of information. They weren't able to let me know the decision made, but I mean all I know is that it is on the way.

AHH that was sooo helpful your amazing! I just called and she told me that my application is still under review and she looked into it further and she said that I should expect to hear my decision next week. At least you will know soon!!! This whole not knowing thing is killing me...

You're welcome! Your insight is very helpful as well and helping with all this anxiety I'm having haha. I know they have a deposit that students have to make to hold your spot if you are accepted. And i've been mentioning that for those students who are accepted, it would be nice to receive it earlier than the end of December because classes start in January and that gives us no time to prepare. I hope you get in as well! I dont know if you mentioned whether you applied to San Francisco or Sacramento?

So my stats were actually really good.

Anatomy & Physiology A

Chemistry C+

Micro A

and all my english, math, history were either A or B. I think my overall GPA was 3.5

I also had direct healthcare experience .

All my communication for my USF application -- and just to clarify this was for the direct entry MSN for non-nurses was via portal and email.

I know my application was due September 01, 2017 and per my email, my decision portal update was emailed to me November 16, 2017.

I was not able to find out why I did not get accepted, they did not allow that. I think the official letter stating that USF doesn't need to explain the reason and only noted it to be competitive.
