Hi y'all!
I applied for the USF nursing program as a transfer student for fall of 2016. I was looking at the form someone created last year of fall 2015 and it seemed to be very helpful to those who are applying and waiting for an answer, likewise as myself.
My GPA is not too high but I have tons of volunteering and work experience. I am really nervous to hear back from them.Has anyone heard back from USF already? and if so what are your stats?
Good luck to everyone! :)
@Kurlin I have a million questionsI start clinicals in January and am excited/scared/nervous!!! Did you graduate with close to the number that started? I was hoping there is a lot of help at USF if needed and that many people graduate :)
@sm1211 I'm not sure what the admission's board looks at but many transfers I know had a 4.0 over all or 4.0 in science and/or very compelling life stories (military, bachelors from another country etc.). They seem to be looking for a unique transfer applicant. I'm not sure about the 120 freshman BSN's they admit but my lab mate had over a 4.0 and high test scores coming from high school. I don't mean to be discouraging, and I hope to see you at USF in the fall, but if not, I would do a lot of volunteering/community service. I personally I think your abroad healthcare project may set you apart from others :) good luck!!!!
We started with approximately 110 and graduated with approximately 70? Some people failed the first tough class which is MedSurg and then again in Pediatrics/Maternity.
Where are your clinicals? I'll be on campus today in the reading/writing center tutoring for HESI if you want to ask questions in person.
hey guys! I also applied to USF for fall 2016. I am a transfer student from foothill college. I also do not have a strong GPA (3.2). However, I have been a CNA for more than a year or so. I used to work in a long term facility. I was a proctor for many CNA students that had clinicals at my facility. I now work at Lucile Packard children's hospital as an NA. I really hope admissions over look my GPA and focuses on my experience and letter of rec. Two of my friends and myself are still waiting for acceptance letters from USF. Let us know when any of you recieve "THE LETTER"!!! goodluck!!

wow good for you!! In my opinion it seems like you have a pretty good chance of getting in. The fact that you have paid work experience is a huge bonus points. I actually volunteer at Lucile Stanford hospital!! I do the buddy program there. I'll update once I hear back from them. I'm guessing it should be sometime in mid April. Good luck to you!!
