University of San Francisco Fall 2016 BSN Program

Published

Hi y'all!

I applied for the USF nursing program as a transfer student for fall of 2016. I was looking at the form someone created last year of fall 2015 and it seemed to be very helpful to those who are applying and waiting for an answer, likewise as myself.

My GPA is not too high but I have tons of volunteering and work experience. I am really nervous to hear back from them.Has anyone heard back from USF already? and if so what are your stats?

Good luck to everyone! :)

I think that freshman applicants heard back already!

I also think that transfer students should be hearing back by April depending on how early you submitted your application..

@mc1031 I believe you are right! I saw that a lot of freshman applicants for USF in general have heard back. Hopefully it is in April. did you apply?

Specializes in Emergency.

If you have any questions regarding USF, let me know. I graduated there last year with my BSN.

Congrats! USF nursing program is one of the best in my opinion. Good for you!

I actaully do have a few questions. So my GPA is at a 3.1, I have a learning disability though which I did inform them about, but I have tons of experience! Volunteered at a hospital for almost a year, at a aboard healthcare project, and I'm a caregiver currently. Do you think I am considered as a strong applicant? @Kurrin, BSN, RN

@sm1211 Yes I did!

I think I have a pretty solid GPA, in GE and pre-reqs. However, I'm just worried that my volunteer experience at my local hospital won't be "enough" to consider. I have yet to hit my one year of volunteering in July ):

Awesome!! Good luck to you!

Very strong applicant. They love people who have experience already -- however, from time to time, people who are CNAs or LVNs come in thinking they are better than everyone due to that experience.

mc1031: Hard to say since I don't know your scores. It is not a difficult school (IMHO) to get into. It is just difficult staying in as you will have the HESI exam every semester and must pass in order to continue with the program.

@Kuriin, BSN, RN Wow that makes me really happy to hear that. I thought my GPA might put me down a lot. I had no idea we had to take the HESI exam that often. I am familiar with it because thats the entrance exam for AA at community colleges. Was it something you saw other students struggle with?

The HESIs are generally easy until MedSurg and Psych. Those are the two that seem to be the weakest subjects for people (from what I have seen while tutoring). I think buying the book (the comprehensive HESI book) as well as the resource on Evolve: HESI/Saunders Online Review for the NCLEX-RN will maintain a very high score on the HESI. :)

Hello all! I also applied as a transfer student. Patiently waiting to hear back! I wish us all best of luck!
