University of San Francisco Fall 2015 BSN Program

Published

Hello everyone!

I created this thread for anyone who applied/applying/got accepted to USF BSN or program. If anyone has any insight, words of wisdom, or anything else that might be useful, it would be much appreciated. Here is a little info about myself to kick this off...

I am currently living in the SF bay area and Im finishing off a few courses before I transfer to a 4 year college next semester. I applied for USF's BSN fall 15 program and here are some of my STATS:

*Academics: I have a 3.8 in my prereqs and a 3.5 (overall) GPA.

*Experience/Volunteer Work: I am a Army veteran with 8 years of experience in health care. ( I have worked in the ICU & ER, at Brooke Army Medical Center for about 6 months. Went on several humanitarian missions which consisted of providing medical aid to rural communities in developing countries. I've also done a tour in Afghanistan, working in a combat support hospital.)

* Personal statement: Writing has never been my strong suit... :-/.. but I wrote it in story format (based on my deployment) and how the values of the military compliment USF's core values.

*Letter of Recommendation: My human anatomy instructor (PhD)

Lastly, I'll keep everyone posted on my application status if any future students want to use this thread as a point of reference.

(I submitted my application yesterday 1/15/15)

Good luck to everyone!!

Steph, can I know why you applied twice for USF?

She hasn't responded to me lol. I just emailed again. I applied twice because I didn't get in for spring. Well I never heard for spring exactly like now so they told me the same thing about switching my app to fall. I really wanted to go to this program that's why I keep trying. But I can't push off anymore time. Getting in for spring 2016 would mean the nursing program wouldn't start until spring 2017. I'll be almost done with another program by then.

good thing you got accepted to another program

has anyone thought about applying to the Sacramento campus? The graduation time is August 2017 which is significantly sooner than going to the SF campus. Also the tuition rate is lower.... Any thoughts?

Do I need to reapply or contact them to change my application to the Sacramento campus? I don't mind going there for the program. Am still thinking of how am going to be at home this fall,so frustrating.

Vian talk to Kate Carter if you are interested in going to Sac. she's the assist. director for admissions office

I just called her right now! She said " I will have to see if you qualify for the sacramento campus, and send you an email as soon as possible; If you do, that means you have to write another essay". Hopefully, I qualify. Thanks so much for the response @Mary3

shoot another essay? what for? you're welcome

Is a different essay topic, as I was told. Did you apply to sacramento campus?

Yes that program is based on veterans I believe.

Also, transfer students to the Sacramento program must have 30+ transferable credits and have the following courses completed prior to admission to the program: Microbiology + Lab, Human Anatomy + Lab, Physiology + Lab, and General Psychology. The application for the Sacramento campus also includes essays focused on veteran centric care.

Vian, I might, I don't know. But I'll see if I am eligible since I've taken those classes. Now I have a problem with where I should stay in Sac. lol I might be lazy to look but I don't know if they are also offering housing to their other branches.
