University of San Francisco Fall 2015 BSN Program

Published

Hello everyone!

I created this thread for anyone who applied/applying/got accepted to USF BSN or program. If anyone has any insight, words of wisdom, or anything else that might be useful, it would be much appreciated. Here is a little info about myself to kick this off...

I am currently living in the SF bay area and Im finishing off a few courses before I transfer to a 4 year college next semester. I applied for USF's BSN fall 15 program and here are some of my STATS:

*Academics: I have a 3.8 in my prereqs and a 3.5 (overall) GPA.

*Experience/Volunteer Work: I am a Army veteran with 8 years of experience in health care. ( I have worked in the ICU & ER, at Brooke Army Medical Center for about 6 months. Went on several humanitarian missions which consisted of providing medical aid to rural communities in developing countries. I've also done a tour in Afghanistan, working in a combat support hospital.)

* Personal statement: Writing has never been my strong suit... :-/.. but I wrote it in story format (based on my deployment) and how the values of the military compliment USF's core values.

*Letter of Recommendation: My human anatomy instructor (PhD)

Lastly, I'll keep everyone posted on my application status if any future students want to use this thread as a point of reference.

(I submitted my application yesterday 1/15/15)

Good luck to everyone!!

I haven't gotten anything unfortunately but I've pretty much accepted the fact I'm not getting in.

they did not officially rejected nor accepted us.

Is the waiting list a possibility?

I am 100% convinced we are on the waiting list.

I haven't received anything either. I've emailed them 3 times and no response. And I'm going to keep doing that till I get answers.

Haha! I emailed them twice no answer! I haven't gotten anything yet either. So frustrating.

I emailed them and got a response! So what they said was that my application was still being processed and basically I am neither accpeted nor denied - soo waitlisted - yay! I have to say being in limbo is really hard, but so glad to get some kind of update. Hoping I'll be admitted!

You guys should keep emailing it's pretty ridiculous that they haven't notified you at all, whether or not you were accepted or waitlisted of whatever they still should notify you. Don't they realized how stressed out we all were?

Yes I agree. it's pretty rude not to say we are on the wait list even if it's pretty obvious but still. I understand their position that they too are stressed with this process but on the other hand we are even more stressed out because we barely know anything about our statuses, thus we feel our life is on hold. Well that's how I feel

Not to mention, late replying or not replying back to our email at all.

I missed out on a lot of scholarship opportunities because they were so late in telling us whether we got accepted or not. Most of the scholarships I was hoping to apply to were due beginning to mid April and needed a confirmation that I had been accepted into a nursing program. I understand they were swamped with applications but reading threads from last year, it also took them incredibly long to get back to those people. I just wished they would have been more prepared this year. Especially since they promised StephH11 they would contact her no matter what since they didn't last year. Sorry, just frustrated for myself as well as for you guys!

So I got a response from Kate today. And she basically told me the same thing as Mary.

"

At this time we have mailed letters of admission to as many students as possible for fall 2015. Your filed has been read and held in the event that we may have space to admit additional students after June 1. I encourage you to accept admission, if you have an offer, to another program.

If you prefer to be considered for another term, you may let me know that as well. We may have some spaces for new admits for spring 2016."

It took me about 5 emails to get a response. And now I have to wait till June. *sigh*
