Hello everyone!
I created this thread for anyone who applied/applying/got accepted to USF BSN or program. If anyone has any insight, words of wisdom, or anything else that might be useful, it would be much appreciated. Here is a little info about myself to kick this off...
I am currently living in the SF bay area and Im finishing off a few courses before I transfer to a 4 year college next semester. I applied for USF's BSN fall 15 program and here are some of my STATS:
*Academics: I have a 3.8 in my prereqs and a 3.5 (overall) GPA.
*Experience/Volunteer Work: I am a Army veteran with 8 years of experience in health care. ( I have worked in the ICU & ER, at Brooke Army Medical Center for about 6 months. Went on several humanitarian missions which consisted of providing medical aid to rural communities in developing countries. I've also done a tour in Afghanistan, working in a combat support hospital.)
* Personal statement: Writing has never been my strong suit... :-/.. but I wrote it in story format (based on my deployment) and how the values of the military compliment USF's core values.
*Letter of Recommendation: My human anatomy instructor (PhD)
Lastly, I'll keep everyone posted on my application status if any future students want to use this thread as a point of reference.
(I submitted my application yesterday 1/15/15)
Good luck to everyone!!
It was my first time applying to a nursing program and it was the only one I applied to. I'm going to let myself feel crappy for a day or two but then I'm going to get myself prepared to apply again and to apply just about everywhere. The rejection letter came in a regular sized envelope. So the ole big envelope means you're in, still holds true. Hope you get better news, Steph.
Aww I'm really sorry! I heard they like multiple attempts so since they have a spring start you should try again. Also I got this email about Samuel merit. They are accepting applications until July 1. It's so weird because I've never inquired them before! I'll definitely let you know if I get a rejection too so we can feel sad together!! Thanks girl and I know it will all work out for you
I had a 3.8 cum and 3.9 in science. So I'm not too sure. I also sent 2 letters of Rec, had 8 years volunteer experience and 1 year at another place. But it's so hard to tell how they decide. The only thing bad is that I did go away to college and mess up a little bit but it wasn't any of the prerequisites and I've made it up over the years. I'm almost 26 so I'm an older applicant. I'm not sure.
